Ok i know this sounds funny but i've never been on a Looping Coaster...I know its funny, but all i've went on is Wooden, well were going to Hershey Park in May and i wanted to know is SuperDooperLooper a good 1 Looping beginner because i just looked at the videos and there is no shoulder harnesses ....has anybody ridden it please tell me your comments. Also in July Im going to cedar point and the maveric sounds like a good caster (with Shoulder Harnesses) and i feel more safe riding the Maveric then the superdooperlooper....

comments are welcome

While I've never ridden it, I can give some information.

Sooperdooperlooper is defintely a good beginner looping coaster. It only goes about 40 mph. Going through the loop is perfectly safe because it was designed so the g-forces push you into the seat. It's been operating since 1977 (or 78, maybe?) and no-one has fallen out of the loop.

My first looping coaster was California Screamin', and I'm sure Sooperdooperlooper is much more tame than that.

After SDL, try Great Bear! It is a very fun coaster and much more fun than SDL. :p SDL is nice though and is perfectly safe. The only reason they have shoulder harnesses in other coasters is because of speed and inversions other than loops. But when you ride SDL, keep your head back when going into the loop; whatever you do, do not lean forward. Doing so will force you down while in the loop and it is rather uncomfortable. So let the quarter (or whatever you dropped) go and ride the coaster.

Although, I thought SDL was a rather boring looper.. if you want a step up, Great Bear is a fantastic ride.. for 3/4 of it.

Of course, you always have Fahrenheit and Storm Runner right down the midway to get your jollies going.

I too was worried about this ride being my first inversion.I wasn't sure about the whole no harness thing either.Don't worry, this ride is a joke. The drop has no feeling and the loop is over so fast, you blink and it's done.
And you don't need a harness on it since loops suck you in to your seat.Ride it,then step up to the big boy rides.

Never ridden it, looks alright though, nothing to be worried about :)

I mean my first looping coaster was B&M's Dragon Khan at Port Aventura a single looper is nothing at all.

What a coincidence! My very first looper was SuperDooperLooper. I highly recommend it. Great ride, nothing to be scared of, and by what I remember, not rough. Thumbs up to SDL!

Update:

I went on SuperDooperLooper and it was a blast. i went on it 10 Times while i was there (what i did was i did the two hour preview before, then went to the park the whole day after). Also, I went on the Sindwinder afterwards, then i had enough courage to do the Great Bear. So after all the riding i rode

-The Lighting Racers (Both)
-The Wildcat
-Comet
-SuperDooperLooper
-Great Bear
-Sidewinder

It was awsome :D

No Farenheit or Stormrunner!? That is the best part of Hershey!

Anyways, I'm glad you had fun. Superdooperlooper looks like a nice "Family Thrill".

My first coaster with an inversion was X. Terrible choise. I didn't liked it at all. Now I am looking forward for it when I go to SFMM this summer :D!
