Has anyone here been to Playland in Vancouver? Playland isn't a theme park, just an amusement park, but it's still fun. Only one ride has theming.
For people who haven't been, there are four coasters, Corkscrew, Coaster, Wild Mouse, and Kettle Creek Mine. Corkscrew is a Vekoma Corkscrew Coaster, and some of you may know it better as "The Screamer" from Boblo Island. Coaster is an ACE coaster classic and was opened in 1958. While not being super high or fast, it's still fun. The airtime in the front and back seats is pretty awesome... often you fly right out the seat into the lap bar! Wild Mouse is an old Wild Mouse from 1958. I've never actually been on it, as the line-up was very long. Kettle Creek Mine is a small family coaster, but I went on it 5 times in a row because there was no line-up. Kettle Creek Mine is the only ride with theming, and it still doesn't have much.
So, I'll repeat my question from before... has anyone been there? And if so, what's your favourite ride?

I haven't been on it, but I'm going on next time I go to Playland. It does seem quite fun and is a welcome change from the Arrow Corkscrew coasters. Vekoma's models seem to have more twists and turns. But from what I've heard, your head bangs around a lot.

I live 20 minutes away from the park. I also worked at the PNE (a two-week fair which is connected to Playland) last summer.
I guess my favorite ride would be the wooden coaster. It has a lot of airtime. The Corkscrew is pretty fun, but the part after the corkscrews is boring. And yes, it is a very rough coaster, so keep your head on the headrest.
The park really needs new rides... especially a coaster.

Nice to see someone else lives nearby :p I live about 30 minutes away, if traffic isn't bad.
I agree that it needs a new coaster. Wild Mouse and Coaster are from 1958... Corkscrew is from 1985, but looks a lot newer, at least. Most coasters with inversions from the eighties, especially Arrow and Vekoma ones, are starting to show their age and becoming rather rough. Kettle Creek Mine is from 2004, but it's a small family coaster. A new coaster is defintely needed.

Oh yes, that Corkscrew is a Corkscrew with Bayer Curve. They are more fun the the Arrow ones. There is one at Alton Towers.

Did you ever hear about La Ronde?
There is a 2 Vekoma Corkscrew at La Ronde, one hurts a lot but the other is still cool.

I was there a few years ago. At the time, Mitch Albom was filming "The 5 People You Meet In Heaven," so there were some extra sets off to the side of the amusement park.
Sorry to say it, but, overall, I found the park to be quite unimpressive. The old Coaster was the highlight for me.

I didn't know La Ronde has two of those.
@Harpo: I kinda agree with you. But like I said, it's more of an amusement park than Theme Park. Most of the rides are portable (excluding coaster), but it could really use some newer rides. It would be nice if they added theming to the ride, rather than it beinga big cement lot.

I wasn't actually all that concerned with theming. While I like theming, I also like traditional-style amusement parks.
However, I felt the operations were not as good as they should have been. A really big factor for me is operator attentiveness. I just didn't get the feeling that the operators were being as attentive as they should be. Also, on my visit, the park looked rather run down. It looked like quite a bit of it could have used a coat of paint.
Regarless, I had fun, as I do at all amusement parks!
