Intamin and Vekoma tracks means that there are roller coasters designed by either Intamin or Vekoma. They're both roller coaster designing companies that are well known for making many unique coaster features.

Pretty much all of the company's coasters have different track, and the corkscrew coaster look similar to Vekoma and the giga coaster looks similar to Intamin track.
If you want some more info on other coaster companies, like Zamperla and Arrow, I recommend you check out this: http://www.coasterforce.com/Manufacturers

I think people just want to look sophisticated... I just call roller coasters, roller coasters... I mean, is it really that hard!?

Intamin is a rollercoaster designer/manufacturer that owns the rest of the amusement industry. Only competition is B&M.
Vekoma is crap.

I personally think B&M's (Bollinger & Mallibard's) coasters give the best steel rides. That's just me, though.:)

^Same but sometimes they need to add a little more forces to their newer rides. Intamin are really good too but can get very rough through the years.

In my opinion, B&M give the best 'huge' coasters, as that's really all they do. But Intamin can give lots of different nice things, they make the best Launched. Vekoma are just generally nice, they're getting better and smoother, the newer ones! :)
So, yes, Manufacturer.

So, a general synopsis:
Vekoma/Arrow (Well, they are very similar in terms of looks and ride) - Rough (notably the SLC's (Suspended looping coaster).
Intamin - Lot's of yummy g's! Are generally smooth and usually take a while to roughen. But some are an exception *Cough*Colossus*Cough* that started off so amazing super glidy and smooth but in like 10 minutes (a bit of an over exaggeration) it went rough.
B&M - The smoothest rides available! Some are very forceful but they seem to be lacking in g's recently. But they are still fantastic!
Other - Don't rank high enough for me to note them OR I can't spell it :p.

As long as they're not like Vekoma's Ninja at Six Flags Over Georgia, they'll be an improvement.
Seriously, that one is painful. They actually have signs and verbal warnings to take post-earrings out because the ride bumps you around so much that the posts will puncture your neck!:bulb:
The last time I rode it, my whole group just gave up and went home; our headaches were too awful.

Arrow imo was the best coaster designers ever.

Well, I would have to agree with you to some extent. I guess you are talking mainly about Drachen Fire. And Loch Ness Monster is meant to be good (although I have ridden neither).
But honestly, some of there rides are dull and tasteless. And can they not understand the concept of managing supports. X is completely over the top with supports. They are like a solid block (not quite) and still it had support and structure problems! That is very bad designing of the trains.

I think all manufacturers have had their better and worse coasters.
Vekoma have made some fantastic non-looping coasters, it is mainly their looping ones that hurt.
B&M make great coasters, but their first, Iron Wolf at SFGAm, is a real killer (or at least it was when I last rode it).
Intamin make some inspirational coasters, but they can get rough (e.g. Colossus at Thorpe Park).
Arrow made some good coasters but the airtime was very rigid and hurt your legs on the lapbar (Magnum at Cedar Point).
Schwarzkopf / Stengel made some great coasters, but some of the concertina restraints were killers and left you 3 inches shorter when you got off compared to how you were when getting on the coaster.
I can't think of any good ones by Miler, or chance, or Soquet, but there may be.
David.

Deja'vu is fairly smooth to be a Vekoma. I was shocked when I found out The Ninja & Deja'vu (SFOG) was built by the same people. The ninja is a "head banger" If I ever rode one.

Agreed, they desperately need new Trains methinks. There's duct tape on it! :|

colossus and xcelerator have been operating for about the same amount of time and xcelerator is still as smooth as glass. strange.

Here is the story I heard:
Intamin used a NEW type of wheel on Colossus that left it gliding around the track at unbelievable smoothness ( I personally thought it was smoother than Nemesis Inferno now). But then the wheels ended up damaging the trains and the track. SO Intamin were called in to inspect and it was claimed that new wheels were not necessary and so it has been left getting rougher. Altough I think Train Two was refurbished as that is nice and smooth, even at the back!

Expedition Everest at Disney's Animal Kingdom is BY FAR the smoothest Vekoma I have ever been on.
Now,answering your questions:Vekoma builds anything from boomerangs to family coasters to the multi-loopers.
Intamin specializes in rocket launchers but can build anything from hypers to those multi-loopers.Their track is box-styled.It is the easest to tell apart from the others.
