View Full Version : Anyone in the Sandusky, OH area....

I am going on a trip with Trek America in the Southwest in a couple of weeks' time, and I intend to do some sightseeing around other US Cities in the days running up to my trek (such as NYC and Chicago maybe).

But what I'd really really like is a chance to visit Cedar Point!

However, since a lot of time is spent doing nothing while waiting in queues when you visit theme parks, I find that it is never wise to go alone. The boredom can be soul-destroying, even in such an amazing place.

So, is there anyone here from the Sandusky area who would be willing to give me a tour of Cedar Point, any time around the 12th-15th of May? I just generally want someone to hang out with while I'm there, and ideally someone who knows the park who could advise on the best rides and whatnot.

Any takers?

That figures! Me and my mother and father are planning a trip during one of the weekend days - which, unfortunately, means that we will either we there the 10th or the 11th, which is just outside your timeframe.

Ahh, well, I wish you luck on finding a partner anyway, Meerkat. You're very much right in saying that boredom is a morale killer.

You're coming to visit me? How sweet! :)

Sorry, I'm not going until mid-July and again in early August...:(

Gah! So darn close!

I know it's going to be awkward because the dates are mid-week, I know that people probably have jobs to go to. I'm just hoping someone will be free.

I believe I'm going to Cedar Point this summer. It'd be interesting if I somehow recognize you from the millions of faces :D. To answer your question, no. Sorry, I don't live near there at all.

CP is a great park, you are going to love it. PM CP diva or ytivarg, believe they are both from the Sandusky area and even work at the park. Wish I could act as a tour guide for you (having grew up 5 minutes from the park and worked there) but life is too busy. Have fun!

Sorry, I'd love to go but I'll be riding Griffon at BGA on those dates!

PM "Harpo" I guarantee he'd be delighted to guide you around.

I live about 5 minutes from the park... and I usually have Tuesdays and Wednesdays off from work, so if you're going on the 13-14, I should be able to make my way over there.

And, at that time of the season.. you won't have to worry about lines. You'll be there at the deadest time of the season.

Harpo's going to be a slight miss -- my wife and I will be there on Saturday, Sunday, and probably much of Monday.

I can't wait to hit the coasters Saturday -- 6 months is MUCH too long a time to go without riding a Cedar Point coaster! :D

I'm a bit concerned that the weather forecast is currently calling for rain on Sunday and Monday, but I'm hoping it'll be sufficiently intermittent so that I can get in a lot of great riding.

Heh, yeah it is the best time there. I'm going there this weekend to get passes and go to the park. Then we're staying there at Hotel Breakers Express, so we can get in the park early and go on Maverick! :D Can't wait to go on Monday, it'll be so dead! :D

I wish I lived near Cedar Point. It looks like such a cool park... Maybe someday, when I have my license and a car to drive over one summer, I'll go.

Oh, yeah, it's been a very long winter. Can't wait to go, too. We're going on Sunday and Monday, so it should be great out there.

I'll be there tomorrow (Saturday). My craptastic visit to Six Flags Over Georgia will be blown away by even a mediocre CP day.

I hope you guys have a great time riding those rides and such. Btw, how long are those lines? I wish I could go today (I have a day off), but I live too far south to visit for a weekend.

The first two weeks following opening day are the best time to go. 20-30 minute waits for Millennium, Dragster, and Maverick... everything else is a walk on.

That sounds pretty good. Of course, last summer, Titan at SFOT had about a 15 min wait about 45 minutes after opening at 10 AM.

I'll be there on Saturday. I can't wait. It's been a LONG winter.

It was great to go on a coaster back in early March, but I still miss my Point. :)

Anyone care to join me on Opening Day for the first train of the year on Magnum?? I'll be the only black guy... hahaha

I'll be there on Sunday. I'm going early so I can get my pass processed and hopefully have some time to ride during early entry.

I'm gonna bite the bullet and go Opening Day. I wasn't going to do it at first because I can't arrive until about 5pm and I still do not have my season pass redeemed. This means I'll be spending a long time waiting in the season pass line, something I vowed never to do again on opening day. Oh, well...

We're staying at Hotel Breakers Saturday night, then we got all day Sunday to get reacquainted with our favorite rides.

With rain in the forecast, I guess we'll see early on if they continue to close almost everything at the first sight of rain like they started to do last year.

I'll be there, but won't make any first-train-of-the-seasons. I'll be in Human Resources. I need this years badge to get into the park, and I've put it off right up until now. Nice, eh? Plus I need to pick up my tickets for peeps coming with... so unless I make the HR stop, no coasters at all for me.

But, I'll be there. I'm hoping today's cold & rain helps keep the masses at bay. Opening day is iffy on crowds, usually dependant on the weather. Since it's supposed to be cold, I'm hoping for a day bundled up in 3 sweatshirts and riding till my face is frozen off. ;) With no lines.

Guys, is TTD or MF more fun? I would say Millenium Force, but I've only been to Cedar POint online, watching the POVs.

Xcelerate, I would say MF is more fun because its longer and you can enjoy the view. Personally, I think Maverick is the funnest coaster there though.
