Okay so quite a few new rides opened up this year. Most of them were nice but some were letdowns. I want to hear what you think were the biggest suprises and letdowns of 2008.

Biggest Letdown: Behomath. :bored::down: This thing was overtrimmed, over hyped, and gimmicky. The fact that the park lied about the drop being 85 degrees is just pathetic. The goes over the hills extremly slow leading me to believe there is no airtime and the trains seating system seem to be not well designed either.

Biggest Suprise: T-Express.:up: Talk about the WOW factor. This thing I thought was gonna turn out more like Colosos and not all that amazing. Well that was wrong. I mean that first drop is just really amazing! The turn also looks like it would have some incredible forces. Overall this looks like an amazing ride!

Edit:
Please share what you think are you biggest suprises and letdowns allso.

I didn't know that there were numbers involved in the name.
"Behomath"
LOL, funny, but let's think. Nearly every other steelie at the park (except for Vortex) is either a stock model or was one. The fact that they've gone out of the box at all is nice. Plus, I've seen many NON-COMPUTERIZED videos of the ride, and I saw no slowdowns as a result of the trims...

LOL, I was mad during my 300th post. W00T!

Biggest Letdown: Fahrenheit. It just doesn't seem that amazing.
Biggest surprise: Planet Snoopy. It actually looks well themed, unlike some other things CF has done. (coughdisastertransportcough)

I have not rode my picks, yet everyone is still perfectly capable of basing an opinion on the information already exposed on the internet.

But how can you say there is no airtime if you haven't been on it?

Haha, I think you missed read by statement.

It could be, but I also see you edited your first post after I posted at 7:05.. Just sayin...

Anyways, but also how do you KNOW it goes over the hills slow? If you've heard of Nitro, it looks like it goes over its hillls pretty slow, but when you're on it, its pretty amazing.

This statement is so incorrect, it is laughable. An opinion HAS to be based on personal experience, not an interpretation of some esoteric spec's on a website.

I can't have an opinion on whether 1800's indians were good or bad, right or wrong. I can interpret what is known and make a value judgement on it, but my opinion, not being based on experience would be worthless speculation.

Haha, I think you missed read by statement.
I saw your post shortly after you first created this thread, and you did not say that it "leads me to believe". I am certain that you flat out said it does not have air time, which is not a good argument when you have never been on it,

I'll get to ride Fahrenheit, Behemoth, Led Zep and Ravine Flyer II this summer, so here are my guesses.

Letdown: Led Zep (I've never been a huge fan of B&M sitdowns and this doesn't even look in the same league as Kumba or Hulk.. so I doubt it will be amazing)

Surprise: Ravine Flyer II or Fahrenheit (From what I've heard, RFII is supposed to be good.. but i'll have to wait a few more days to find out.. and Fahrenheit has that 'Maverick' vibe to it.. I didn't think Mav would be that good and it turned out to be amazing.)

Actually, I do believe anyone can have an opinion, regardless of if they have personal experience. Now, I would consider an opinion without personal experience to be an uninformed opinion, hence I would view it as a largely useless opinion, but it would still be an opinion.

Personally, I won't judge a ride until I've been on it. Although I've become quite good at guestimating whether or not I'll like a ride, I have had a few surprises over the years (both positive and negative), so I consider judging before riding to be premature.

I disagree. Anyone can make an opinion before the ride, and the following events after the ride. We aren't judging the ride, just the outcome compared to the conceptual idea.

Not so, the perception prior to riding is not an actual basis for an informed opinion. The best way to do it is to RIDE, then form an opinion. Not opinon, ride and opinion, that's a ridiculous way to go about it.

I offer no opinion before I ride. I do after, as that makes sense.

Looks amazing. I cannot wait to ride this sucker.

1. My opinion.
2. Opinions change. I saw POV's and heard rider reviews and that can change a lot about how you feel.
3. 'Maverick' feel as in.. a ride which should surprise.. don't you even read the rest of my post?

Fahrenheit has that 'Maverick' vibe to it.. I didn't think Mav would be that good and it turned out to be amazing.)

Thats all you got? You search the forums and all you can find is my own personal opinions? Opinions that have a right to change if and or when I feel like it? Hell, you didn't even use the whole opinion!

Fool.

*Behemoth*
Every parks lie, they want money.A Behemoth for Canada is awesome for us,you guys in USA have the most of the best coasters on the earth.I agree, this is pathetic lying about a coaster which it will be a success anyway. The trains seating system,I have to agree with you again. The hypers in the USA,in Europe and the only one in Canada have a perfect trains seating system, the lapbars don't hurt you.Behemoth has less airtime by eye-looking but it is still a great coaster.A  to the park for the lie and a :up:/:down: for Behemoth.Every rides have ups and downs.

wellllllll

my biggest suprise wasnt really a suprise but dominator at kings dominion was great, i expected this thought considering its a b&m and i have heard nothing but good things. this weekend i got to ride although the placing wasnt the greatest, the ride was good, and the landscaping around the ride was decent and i liked the fact that the queue line wasnt too long making for a short wait time, only around 35 minutes, as my first floorless experience it was great

So far, I'm half right. RFII shocked the hell out of me.. and my friend loved Fahrenheit.. but I'll have to wait and see to hop on that boy.

Biggest Letdown: Fahrenheit. It just doesn't seem that amazing.

Hmmm.Bit Bitter that its steeper than Maverick, are we?Hmmm.Fanboy....
LOL!

Can't say what a letdown/surprise was as I have not ben on them but I can say what looks like a surprise and thats Ravine Flyer II and Dark Knight.I didn't pay attention to either during the offseason because I felt they weren't going to be good, but from videos I've seen,I'm wrong.
I now HAVE TO get on Ravine Flyer II.

Behemoth's trimmed-to-death hills are classic B&M speed machine "features". Raging Bull at SFGAm also has its camelback hills trimmed.

That's to be expected from a B&M.

Dark Knight just looks like a gimmick. I might ride it when I go this summer, but if the line's over 45 minutes long, forget it. It looks just average.

Right, the vertical lift,97 degree drop and Norweigan Loop isn't special at all.
It's only one of a kind....:haha:
Dark Knight doesn't look "gimmicky" to me.Looks like a well thought out and themed roller coaster from Six Flags for once.

Having all that may not mean that its a great ride. Colossus has 10 inversions, was the only one of its kind but it really isn't all that good.
Features aren't everything.
