I went on Disaster Transport on Sunday and I noticed that some of the effects seemed to be working again. The "overheating" robot was lit up again, and the sign at the end no longer says "Welcome to Alaska!" but says "Thank you for flying with DISASTER TRANSPORT!". It also seemed like it went faster than last year, but I might be wrong.

No. DT will never, ever work. Period.

For what it's worth, I know a ride op who has just been transferred to DT who reported the cars may be receiving on board speakers which would supply an on ride original soundtrack, played during the ride.

Whether the other ride ops where yanking the fresh meat's leg or not, we can dream!

I've only ridden DT once and that was two summers ago. Did the effects work then? I was too busy enjoying my first ride on a bobsled coaster. It would be exciting to have music though.

I rode it on Wednesday, and saw a strobe light, two robots with multicolor lighting, and something in the 'rocky' section (what the h*ll is that supposed to be, anyway?).

It used to be Alaska. Now it's just a useless heap of metal inside a warehouse.

The story isn't cohesive whatsoever, so who knows? It doesn't look like ALASKA though...

Fanbois need to know everything. If you need help, just ask the Lemon Chill Guy.

I think the Dip n' Dots guy gives better help. You could even try asking one of those timeshare people by Magnum :p.

If these rumors are true, mabye I'll actually ride DT sometime.

If you do a search through some of the older posts, I think you should still be able to find my explanation of Disaster Transport. The whole story was clear in 1990, the first year of Avalanche Run's entrapment in the warehouse to become Disaster Transport. A lot of the story line has since been lost, but, old-timers like me still remember it. (It also helps that 1990 was my last summer working at the park. That year, there was a Guessing Game location next to the Kiddy Kars, across from the current entrance to Wicked Twister. The Disaster Transport crew's uniforms were such a bright orange, we used to tease them about needing to plug them in at night to recharge them.)

That big dinosaur on the last turn just randomly disappeared.

Some new stuff this week:
1. New music in the queue line! (first room)
2. Some new signs throughout the queue, and better lighting.
3. New safety sign above the station. (there were new safety signs throught the park)
4. Some new lighting effects.
5. "Overheating!" robot was flashing again.
6. Some stars (fiber optics?) in one of the tunnels after one of the rooms.
