View Full Version : [REL] Albert Caine's Clown Set -offical download post 1
Albert Caine

This is my first set, and 2nd imported object so far.
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h128/jorgetheviking/Shot0001-10.jpg
^ Chuckles is a clown that I created, and this is my drawing imported into RCT3. ;) He is seen here in his Ringmaster suit. I'll be making a regular clown version too.
The problem is positioning him, as you can see. I'll work on it and update as soon as possible.

^ The backside is recolorable. ;) Thanks to Lightgrenades for the texture.
I also want to thank stu-2693 for some guidance.
More Soon, please comment.

Released
I fixed all the bugs, and here is the updated version of the set. Unfortunately I have not added anything new because I'm working on some CS for my IOA recreation, and another thing I've been wanting for a long time.

aren't they supposed to stand up?

Well... whenever you get them positioned correctly, it might be an interesting set. But is this the only thing that your gonna make? I mean, you should probably wait until the set has more than 20 pieces before you release it...

I will be releasing more than this. I'm planning a minimum of 10 objects. This is all I have so far.
Some one please post so when I have an update I can just post it.

umm.. you need to learn how to use textures with transparencies, that clown could be 2 polygons, at them moment it is probably off the scale..

nice job on your first set good luck with this.
Albert Caine

If you mean transparencies as in the way jcat's screamworxs cutouts are then I'd rather keep somesort of depth to mine. they work fine in game.
Here is a picture of it upright.

please leave feedback.
I'll most likely re-do this one.

Wow! a clown set! cool! I'm sorry, I don't really like the clown right now, not crazy about the face texture.

iyou can actually have a cutout and still have depth, it just takes a little more effort..
Albert Caine
06-26-2008, 09:48 AM
Well let me get a little more used to CS before attempting to do that.
I just imported my circus cube and got permission from Fisherman to make his clown drawings from Cirque Phantasmagorie into cutouts!
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h128/jorgetheviking/Shot0000-4.jpg
As you can see only one texture works. So I'm going to have to mess around with this some more. Good news is it shows up in game in the perfect position and it works as a speaker.
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h128/jorgetheviking/clown.jpg
Ringmaster Chuckles somewhat better but I still think I'm going to re-do him.

Are you going for a Circusy Clown or Horror Clown?
If Horror you should make the eyes a bit more sinister looking:noob:
Albert Caine
06-26-2008, 11:25 AM
I'm going for more of a horror theme, as a matter a fact the items are found in walls misc in spooky theme.
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h128/jorgetheviking/Shot0003-8.jpg
The cube's texture is somewhat coming together, it is recolorable, and plays music.
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h128/jorgetheviking/Shot0002-8.jpg
The Chuckles face texture must have moved without me noticing. I'll fix it right away.
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h128/jorgetheviking/Shot0001-11.jpg
Chuckles the clown.
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h128/jorgetheviking/Shot0000-5.jpg
I re did Chuckles the ringmaster. Does he look better?
NOTE Please keep in mind that these are my drawings that I'm using as textures.

How do you have a cut out with depth and very few polygons, Stu? I'd actually like to know myself?
Nice first steps Albert!
stu-2693

you amke what i call a polygon sandwich, you have an alpah texture on the front, with lengthening bits on the side with another lapha on the back, then you cut almost all the faces on the front and back. you could also make the outline less precise that way too. cutting more polygons

^Whoah stu-3693 I can barely do this right. Give it time though, I'll get it eventually. As I said earlier I had permission from Fisherman to use his clowns so here is a new one...

Here he is, I am hoping to see some pretty cool things out of this guy.

Your set works pretty well! The only annoying thing is how there's an automatic-turn type thing for placing some of the objects.
Albert Caine
06-28-2008, 12:26 AM
How do I turn the auto turn thing off. I'd like my objects to be placed easily like Shyguy's but how do I do that?

They are great but i don't like the placing because of trying to get it to face forward it always faces a different way and takes ages to sort and how some of them start off in the ground.
StarRngr4.0

Riiiight. Well, the placement thing is a factor of what type of scenery its been defined as. From the sound of it, this is either quarter tile or wall, both of those tend to auto rotate to align based on where the cursor is. In fact, given the uses thought of for this set I'd place my money on wall alignment. This would be the best placement for it, which kinda means your just going to have to live with learning how to place walls correctly.
On the plus side, thats very much a needed skill for making good looking park buildings anyway....
as to object height over ground, THAT is something Al needs to fix; namely that the object origin either needs to be moved to the center bottom of the model in Sketchup, though I dont know how, or he needs to add an addtional translation matrix along y axis that will shift the origin correctly so that it aligns with ground level.
My gods I'm feeling chatty today....

What do I do to download them once I get to the site?
Albert Caine
07-02-2008, 03:01 AM
Type in the security code at the top right hand section. After that you must wait I think 45 seconds before the download link is active. Then extract the folder on to your desktop and move it to style/themed folder as you would with any other set. Let me know how it works out, and thanks for downloading. ;)

Enjoy, and don't forget to give me feedback.
Download from the first post.
Lol if you should give feedback for every picture from your park than I must give feedback to 41 packs for only the entrance of a park, sirious, no joking.. lol
But nice set for your first! That clown entrance, funny too :p
at the moment I don't see anything how I could use it but I'm sure they will be used in darkrides and things :)
And stu is right, alpha is very easy to do, you really should try it, you only should make a alpha channel and a flat model..
