I have handle a fair number of Atari consoles. Maybe 50-60. Not a massive amount. I have an older unit in hand and this is the first time I have noticed a stamp in the underside of the console's top cover. It states:
Property of Atari Inc.
Sunnyvale, Ca. 94086

Does this have any significance or have I just not noticed it before?

Thanks for any input.

Could be for any number of reasons, none really to significant from a collector standpoint if that's what you were wondering. Could be anything from a loaner, to one that was being used internally at Atari, to someone just stuck one in there at the factory for fun. Which model of 2600 is it and what's your location?

Yes, that's a heavy sixer. Considering your location it was most likely just a store/promotional unit - they were usually not for sale and considered Atari property. I'd actually be interested in the heavy sixer joysticks you have with it.
