HELP ! custom scenery mess up saved games

hey ;) i have installed some custom scenery and when i play a new game and save, next time i open the game up and want to open some scenery it closes down ;s??
help please !

no, i started a new scenery about five minutes ago. then i opened some scenery and there where no problem. then i saved, closed down rct3 and loaded the game and then this time i couldnt open the scenery icons then it just closed. ;s

Ahh right, when you opened the scenery icons did any sets not come visible that would normally happen, then you got the no svd error?
Or did that not even become visible?

If it was the first option and you have downloaded new scery then i reccommend looking through all your new scenery and checking they are downloaded right;).

no not the svd error rct just shut down and i get the message RCT3 have stopped working thats the only thing it do ? :)

He just said he don't get a clear error, just RCT3.exe stopped working.

Usually you get that with no SVD for SID and that doesn't pop-up in vista, for some reason it goes behind the RCT3 window........

i downloaded old spices twinkle star walls and j cats steelwork and i zipped them into style ?

coastercrazy if you got a problem make your own threat please dont use this, but somebody do you know why, its pain in the *** i cant make any good scenery because of it ? it startet a little ago can it be a set that does it ? :)

i dont use the importer to install files i just put them in the folder, but can it be a scenery that doesnt work so it crashes the game ? :)

yea i see what you mean but i think it is SLIGHTLY different when you get a whole lot of people asking about getting CS to work if you know what i mean ;) whether it be a simple case of installing it incorrectly or just it being slightly different becouse you have a different operating system, a bit different from copying someone :p

Hmm... try checking your systems over again and if there's something wrong, try a Virus Protection Scanning or something like that

now i just uninstalled rct3 and removed the rct3 folders in documents and installed it again but the problem is still there, please someone help i beg you :(:(:(

Sorry azanderz, with other people highjacking your thread it's been had to follow. Was this custom scenery that someone else made and you downloaded...or was this CS that YOU made using the importer?

i downloaded it myself and then played with it. but is there some rct3 files hidden on your computer somewhere else than documents and the atari folder ? because after i reinstalled it the problem still were there ;s

EDIT: no its not platinium and there is no expansions installed cause i ruined the cd's :)

Yes, sometimes there are entries left on you registry when you un-install the game, but usually that problem won't allow you to re-install at all.

So - at this time you should only have just the generic in-game scenery installed and no custom?

If so try doing a search for Atari/RollerCoasterTycoon 3/ Style/Themed on your computer. Use the Advanced Search and check the box to include hidden files. See if anything comes up for that under Virtual Store, there might be CS files in there.

Some CS I think requires either the expansions, or at least the final Vanilla patch (which added billboards, waterfalls, etc.).

and wagbigbear there is no hidden files in my themed folder.
god damn its weird ;s can it be because of scenery that is not in the right folder because the steelworx when i install that it doesnt show up in the themed map ?.

it crashes when i do these steps
1. i open rct3
2. i start a game
3. i dont want to play anymore so i save and shut down rct3
4. i load up my last saved game
5. i want to use some scenery and the game just shut down and i get the "RCT3 stopped working" :(

Do you have a park currently that's doing that? If so, take a look in MyDocuments/RCT3 and look the park folder. See if the park file is shown it will be 'parkname.dat'. See if there's also a backup version of the park, it will be named "parkname.bak".

If so, rename 'parkname.dat' to 'parkname.OLD'.

Then rename the backup version from 'parkname.bak' to 'parkname.dat'. Then try opening it as normally. That will tell you if there was just a corrupted park file (which does happen once in a while).

If you don't have a park file that will work, then try opening the game, make a park with just a bunch of rides plunked down, just real simple. And save it after you place each ride. Then once you get a bunch placed save and close, then try it and see if it crashes. If it does do what I suggested above to see if a corrupt park file was created.

You might also run and post your dxdiag here. In the RCT3 tech support section, at the top of the page is a stickie that will have a link to a thread with instructions on how to do that. We can check for any other problems using that.

okay this is wierd, in my parks folder the parkname.bak is called parkname.dat.bak?
the other is called parkname.dat just ? :)

EDIT: it wasnt a corrupted parkfile i just tested that.

Wait, what was the solution?

The solution was that rct3 made some messed up savegames :)

Back to why im taking this topic to the top.
The problem have occured again but in a new way. now i cant play career. when i start a career game i can fine select all scenerys, but now when i load a game and want to use scenery it goes out of rct3. but it works fine if i load a sandbox and select scenery ;s ?
