It might help me later.

1.You would first need to know what ovl that the texture that you are going to use is in. There is a tool on Vodhin's site that will help for mapping the textures.
2.The texture will show up upside down, so you need to use a image editor to get it right side up.
3.Then you need to map the texture to your model, and export it like you normally would.
4.In the importer, you first need to create a texture file, so go into the create OVL screen. From here, find your texture.
5.When the window pops up where you would change the thexture name, make sure to put brackets around the texture name.
6.Save the file as a SCN or XML. Do NOT create an OVL file!
7.Close out of the create OVL window, and then open it back up.
8.To add your texture file, click on the green plus at the top of the window and find your SCN or XML file.
9.Now click o0n the referneces tab for Importer 18. For other importers I believe it is off to the side. Type in the directory the OVL file you got the texture from. The texture I used in there would be located in ../../Adventure/WallsandRoofs/Sultanswalls (../ menas back, it is from the location of the OVL you're currently creating)
10.Create the rest of the OVL like normal, except for in the model, you are going to select the texture with the brackets around it.
11.The rest of the scenery creation is the same as it would be for anything else.
12.If you have done anything wrong, then the green blob will show up.

You should always reference textures, even the ones that aren't in the game. Those textures would usually be somewhere in your set, usually in a shared floder. These work just like game textures except for the fact that when it is not an in-game texture that you do create a texture ovl

Well will you tell it?

EDIT: Where is the tool, and would pics be possible?

I really don't know if I should post a link to it. I would think that it is advertising, it is under the misc. files tab on Vodhins site, not that many things are there, so it should be pretty easy to find. As for pictures, it might take a while.

Look up Jonwil's Texture Dumper. That program will get you the in-game textures to use for your objects.

ooh  bad idea ;)

the textures of RCT3 should not be imported, only referenced, the simple reason being that by referencing you are sending only your files, not any RCT3 files which are copyrighted. thats why in dasmatze set you have to do a lot of moving and copy/pasting, becouse otherwise he would be sending hundreds of RCT3 files which are not owned by him :p especially if the things that are using are from one of the expansion packs, then anyone who downloads your set is getting stuff from the expansion packs, even if they do not have the expansion packs (therefore getting stuff for free :p)

just thought i would clear up the way that most people would go.. the easy way :p

You MUST use referenced textures. If you were to make a download using Frontier's textures included with your models, you would be breaching a number of copyright laws- specifically ones that forbid re-distribution of those images (though your intentions are for players of the Frontier game to have new pieces, the artwork created by Frontier would become available to anyone, wether or not they have Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 or not.

Allways use referenced textures for sets of this nature.

Well, I was just really telling him the program he was looking for; I don't make CS so I couldn't really tell him how to reference them.
