View Full Version : Referencing Textures?
I know how to create a texture ovl and all that, but I don't know what directory I'm supposed to reference it to.
The way I have it set up is my Theme's master folder, with a Models folder and Textures folder inside. All my ovls, xmls, and ases are in there, including the texture xml and ovl. Only the .jpg textures are in the texture folder.
What am I supposed to reference to?

reference to the texture.ovl file in textures folder, and should be done in importer during model setup.
It's named -GS- Reference.common.ovl and it's in my models folder
Would that mean I reference to
\models
or to
\models\-GS- Reference.common.ovl

did you rename the texture.ovl to -GS- reference.common.ovl?
question.... is this for a cfr? if it is not sure if done same way.
I personally have not done a cfr and referencing may be different.

you need to put the referenced texture in the same place as your THM file, then it is easier to name it to what it gives you as default under the references tab, when you save it, every model then needs to have the default reference in it (saves renaming it and then pressing "+")
press the green + at the top to then load in your reference XML and then you can assign the textures like normal textures.

Here's my project file, so you can show me what I'm doing wrong
Because I still have to green smiley faces of death
It's not a CFR, btw. Just scenery

looked at your folder and what you are doing wrong is.....you don't have a texture.ovl for texture sharing. What you want to do is....go into create ovl and put all your textures into the texture slot. Then when you have all of them in there...create the ovl. It will ask you since no model is present to continue...just say yes and it will create a texture.ovl file. Then save a new .thm file, and whenever you open importer up just click the plus sign in lower right corner and it should add the file. I tried using the reference file you have, and there is no textures in it. So might be good idea to not rename file, but then someone else may know more about file naming.

You reference a file from the ovl of the object (when it is installed). The shared texture will be placed at style/themed/setname/shared/. Your object ovl will be at style/themed/setname/customfoldername/. So you have to go up one folder and then into the shared folder:
../shared/NameOfTextureOvl
Don't add the .common.ovl after the NameOfTextureOvl, only the name.

Thanks, DasMatze
I FINALLY figured it out
