Its lookin good, only I don't think it would look very good as an extended wall. If you put those next to eachother they would not tile as the texture does not appear to be tileable. (put multiple walls together and see how it looks)

interesting idea.

Jeez, how many CS sets do you start?

wabigbear
09-15-2008, 05:17 PM
More importantly - how many CS do you finish?

I see a whole lot of threads for different sets started and then after a short time you move onto something else.

Finish an other set before starting a new one, Making 10 sets at a time, Is rather confusing and iritating , then usefull.

ok but ive put others on hold for now and im gonna carry on with this one now

wabigbear

Here's a suggestion coastercrazy that you might consider: Just post all your work from now on in just this one thread. Put your questions here and post updates about any of your work. A new thread isn't needed for every question nor for ever set you plan, they can all go in this one.

People are likely to be more willing to help with answers and to comment on your work if you don't have a whole bunch of other threads scattered around. This way it would be nice and neat and not confusing at all.

Hope you'll consider that idea. ;)

The new walls do look like wax! I like the window design, is it an alpha texture or modeled in 3D?

coastercrazy
09-15-2008, 07:02 PM
thank you so much wabigbear thats really helpfull ill do that from now on ill put my new set ideas in one thread oh and the window is an alpha texture plus im gonna do other wax textures for this set

wabigbear
09-15-2008, 09:21 PM
You're welcome coastercrazy.

Nice job on the window alpha, I really do like the layout of the planes of glass, adds some interest different than if you just made it a bunch of even squares.

09-16-2008, 05:55 PM
Those chocolate walls look pretty thick, maybe you should make them thinner. The wax walls look good though :).

09-16-2008, 05:57 PM
I agree with that and try not to use the same texturd all the time it gets boring.

coastercrazy
09-16-2008, 06:04 PM

delta V
09-16-2008, 07:12 PM
when you export to ase it gives you a general idea. A wall normally has around 12 I think,

15 squares * 10 polys each=150, plus whatever the bar is.

That's my guess on polys for that one.

coastercrazy
09-16-2008, 07:19 PM

i count 208 excluding the top face on the actuall bar, it is probably around the 250 to 300 mark

to find out how many polygons it has, export to ase and it will give you the exact number.

stu-2693

measure it, you cannot (or should i say, you shouldnt, or it is a bad idea) to get models out of rct3.

a good tool to measure is this :
http://tnsworld.byethost13.com/download.php?view.14

a lot of CS making is experementing, not just being happy with the first import, good CS sets make a basic plan (probbaly a couple of cubes stuffed together) and then import it several more times adding textures, then more details and so on, also, a lot of things are common sense, such as placing a 1H wall next to something and seeing how much higher it is or whatever..

coastercrazy
09-18-2008, 11:37 AM
thank you so much stu but how do i know what length the track is ?

stu-2693
09-18-2008, 11:38 AM
ive been on google looking for textures but most of them arent 512 - 512

resize them then.

also, they do not have to be 512x512, they can be any power of two, such as 32x32, 64x64, 128x128, 256x256

stu-2693
09-18-2008, 11:40 AM
what do you mean length of track? measure it more? if you mean width then use the tool i gave you, you can measure almost anything.no offence in anyway, but try to find things out for yourself instead of relying on other people to find out/give answers for you ;)

coastercrazy
09-18-2008, 11:42 AM
ok but ur the expert lol and what folder shall i zip this tool to ?

stu-2693
09-18-2008, 11:45 AM
it is cs, i am sure it probbaly has a description and a readme.

coastercrazy
09-18-2008, 11:48 AM
whoa i thought the image size had to be 512 - 512 or 64 - 64 :o

coastercrazy
09-18-2008, 11:51 AM
ive installed it but when i put the grid round the track it doesnt tell me any measurements ?

stu-2693
09-18-2008, 12:17 PM
you have to work it out. one whole square is 4 units, that means that if it is split into 32 mini segments then the blue liners are 0.125 and the other lines are 1 or 0.5 meters away from eachother. OR as it says in the readme:

This is a set of grids for mesuring objects in RCT-3.
These grids can be place horizontal or vertical and also be placed 0.1 meters apart.
The grids come in opaque and transparent.

Each red line is 1 Meter
Each green line is .5 meters
Each Blue line is .1 Meters

although the blue is 0.125 if i remeber.

this is what i mean about rushing, if you took a few minuites to read the readme then half these questions could be avoided.

Perhaps you could ask the mods to merge this thread with the other one about wax walls, remember that's what I suggested, keeping EVERYTHING all in one thread.

I know you already know you start too many things, I'm just trying to help you organize things better, it will help you, and it will make other members happier too. ;)

coastercrazy
09-18-2008, 02:08 PM
ok but how can i ask a mod to do that ?

FlyingDutchman7
09-18-2008, 02:15 PM
PM one of them or ask it in your thread, but I don't think they will see the last one faster.

biogal
09-18-2008, 02:35 PM
What threads should be merged? Leave a list for me, please.

coastercrazy
