View Full Version : What is the world's Roughest/Most Painful Coaster?

disneyland123

Now here's a classic topic idea...:noob:

So, what do you think is the world's most painful ride? What is the most painful ride you've been on? What was your experience like on the ride? Discuss here!

So, I've been on a few painful rides myself, and I can't really decide between SkyRider at Canada's Wonderland or Manhattan Express without the Priemier Ride trains and brakes. TOGO's actually have very unique designs and would be popular, just that the restraints are not designed well. If they just used the Individual Lap-bar, there would be no problem for Manhattan Express, but for SkyRider I think it still has to use the OTSR.

Roughest ride....GhostRider at Knott's. I got a bad headache after riding it for the first time and trust me, it was BAD. Silver Bullet was much better.

YOUR TURN!

I don't know to be honest. I learned to ride a coaster that seems rough, where it is smooth (Not completely).

I guess Son Of Beast....?

Here are a few of my roughest rides:

Son of Beast
Top Gun (Canada's Wonderland)
Tornado (M&Ds Scotland)
Georgia Cyclone
The Villain
Rattler (Fiesta Texas)
Wild Wild West (WB Germany)

I am sure there are more...

Smm- I thought that was an awesome ride.

My roughes...no wait, THE roughest ride is Ninja at Six Flags Over Georgia. That thing is a death trap! My head kept banging against the harrnesses the entire time, and it gave me the biggest headach I ever had.

Flashback at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Thank heavens it's gone!

Was just at Canada's Wonderland on Saturday -- Time Warp (formerly Tomb Raider) is getting a bit clunky and uncomfortable, but it's still WAY better than Flashback was!

Worst for me so far is Gwazi at Busch Gardens Florida.
Wooden coster, only a lap bar, very little pading.

I dont really care for coasters as most lines are too long, so I would know if any big ones hurt, but the ones that hurt me are:

1. Really bad wooden coaster at Cedar Point, I couldnt understand why people were screaming how great the coaster was at the end

2.Scopion at Busch Gardens. I CANNOT fit my legs into the car and I had bad leg cramps after I got off.

3. Gwazi at Busch Gardens. As said above ^, though I dont ever remember it being too rough the times before the last.

4. Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom. I didnt have enough leg room, and I kept hitting my shin on the car as it went around turns.

5. Python at Busch Gardens before it was torn down. I always hit my head on it going in those corkscrews!!!

Scorpion, at Busch Gardens. I was leaning down on the lift hill, then there was the drop and I started to lean back, and the Ride practically Snapped my spine in 2 when I reached the loop. Maybe 3.

The two roughest I have personally been on are Corkscrew at Alton Towers ( although that wasn't too bad, I think I was expecting far worse) and Rolling Thunder at SFGADV. It really hurt. Although we laugh about it now :).

09-23-2008, 12:04 AM
Well, there have been a few coasters that have made me feel quite uncomfortable, and perhaps a little bit painful. The Comet at Hershey is kind of rough, as is Sidewinder (again, Hershey). Those are just very rough; The Comet is old, and Sidewinder is a Vekoma. Those weren't the painful ones that I've been on, though, since I really didn't get hurt on them. Now, there are two coasters that were very painful, one on my head and the other in a place a bit south of that. The one that made my brain rattle was SuperFlight at Rye Playland; I kept whacking my head on those stupid head restraints on that Zamperla flyer. And Whirlwind at Seabreeze in Rochester NY was very painful in my manhood, if you catch my drift. Dunno why Maurer had to make those seats like that...

I completely agree. It made my ears ring since my head kept banging the harness the whole ride. I think it is too rough and needs to be adjusted some.

Ooh, Nethero is going to be in trouble! That picture is the latest in upcoming thrill rides -- it's supposed to be top secret!

Just between us... don't tell anyone... here's the way it works. Riders have wheel assemblies, similar to roller skates, strapped onto each of their feet. A tow rope will take them to the top of the first hill. Then, after going over the top, it is up to the riders to switch feet at the right time so that they avoid hitting any trees. For safety, the trees are really foam rubber -- amazing how they make 'em look so real, isn't it? But, the rider loses speed whenever a tree is hit, making the ride less fun. Also, there's a game aspect to it. Riders with sufficiently fast times and sufficiently few penalty points for hitting trees will win prizes! There will be special prizes for fastest ride of the day. It is rumored that a really special prize will be given for the fastest ride of the season. They're not yet saying exactly what that prize will be, but one manager was overheard saying something about "eight cylinders."

Now, remember, that whole thing is top secret, so be sure to keep it under your hat!

:D

Last year, Ninja at SFoG got a rehab that lowered the horsecollars and set them farther out. It's much less of a headbanger, but it's still a rough ride.

Georgia Cyclone was really smooth... when it was first built. It was ranked in the top ten of woodies for awhile. Nowadays, it really needs a full retracking, or even a complete rebuild.

Unfortunately, it's not in the cards for 2009, but maybe 2010.

The roughest coaster I've been on is a kiddie coaster at SFAmerica outside of Washington. That thing HURT.

Heck, I'm from Michigan, and I've been to Adventureland twice. The more recent time was this summer, when, that evening, I found myself huddling in one of the tunnels under the train track as a tornado (not the coaster) paid a visit to the park. Quite an experience. Just minutes before, I had bought a t-shirt that said, "Tornado Warning."

When I was there the ride op on the Outlaw was sending the train around twice...but not applying the brakes...so it was flying round the last bend, through the station at about 25mph, around the 180 degree turn and getting halfway up the lifthill before it finally ran out of steam! The ride op wanted to get the sack...he got it that day, and in about an hour it was estimated that about a year's worth of wear and tear had taken place!

I must get my video footage of that on YouTube!
