View Full Version : Memorable Theme Park Music...

I know that there's a lot of these "what's your favorite ______" threads, but this one is a little different... I guess. ;)
The most memorable theme park music for me has to be at Epcot. The Innoventions background theme is my favorite, with most of the Spaceship Earth (past and present) and Soarin' soundtracks a close second. Test Track, Universe of Energy, and Horizons soundtracks are also favorites of mine.
Without me asking "what's your favorite," what piece of theme park music is most memorable to you? It could be music from a current ride, old music from a past ride, or even your favorite background music.
And please, no spamming! :mad::up:

"There's A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" from Carousel of Progress. I wake up to it every morning.

For me it's definitely the good night song Kennywood plays at the end of every operating day. They've played this song every night for decades.

Oh, shooty shoot shoot!
I forgot about the original songs from Hershey.
I'm talking way back in the day. Well, late 90s-early 00s.
The original "Sweetest Place on Earth" and the original "Hershey's Chocolate Tour Theme".
Much better than the crap ones now.
Brings memories back.

At Cedar Point, probably the Milliennium Force techno theme that plays in the station. The Maverick music, espically "Rawhide" is very memorable to me, but that's not unique to the park, so it dosen't really count. Same case with "Ready to Go."
The Electrical Light Parade music. :)
Or the Millenium Force station music.

The Nemesis music at Alton Towers, I heard it a few days after going and it instantly took me back to there (not literally), it was really nice. And same with the Air music.

It's nice to have the original music back! There were new ones for a while... :(
It's Innoventions for me I think, really brilliant music. And the Epcot Entrance Loop. I also love the Pirates area in Paris, the Oasis at Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Boulevard at Paris, the Nemo attractions... OHH
It's all so good!

The nemesis music is cool but I just like the park's music "in the hall of the mountain king". There's a couple of variations like the Ug Land and a spooky version I think...

Well, it's not QUITE what you were asking for, but two items that I frequently remember are Cedar Point commercial jingles.
One from the early 1970's: "Cedar Point, for the time of your life!"
One from the 1980's: "Gonna take two days, gonna have a fun vacation. At Cedar Point, best park in the nation. Gonna ride all day, gonna stay till after dark. At Cedar Point, the Amazement Park. Let me tell ya what I'm a gonna do! Cedar Point is the cure for the summertime blues!"
I also really liked the older Carousel of Progress tune: "Now is the time, now is the best time, now is the best time of your life. Be glad your here for, stand up and cheer, for it's the best time of your life!"
I really miss that tune. As I understand it, Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow was the tune originally selected by Walt for Carousel of Progress, but, personally, I found Now Is The Time to be more uplifting and inspirational. As the song says, "Yesterday's memories may sparkle and gleam. Tomorrow is still but a dream. Right here and now, you've got it made! Life's forward marching and you're in the parade!"
Of course, it's impossible to think of Top Thrill Dragster without thinking about "Arms down, head back, and hold on!"

I feel the same way Harpo. "The Best Time of Your Life" has always been a favorite of mine.
Now is the time.
Now is the best time.
Now is the best time of your life.
Life is a prize, live every minute.
Open your eyes and watch how you win it!
Yesterday's memories may sparkle and gleam,
tomorrow is still but a dream.
Right here and now,
you've got it made.
The world's forward marching and you're in the parade!
Now is the time.
Now is the best time.
Be it a time of joy or strife.
There's so much to cheer for, be glad you're here.
For it's the best time of your life.
Luckily, I have been on both song versions of Carousel of Progress. ...May the ride live on another 44+ years.:)
I also love the IOA soundtrack from when the park first opened.

I'm not sure if I've got that tune on an audio recording, but I did videotape Carousel of Progress once while it had that tune.
Makin' Memories from EPCOT's Imagination movie is another one I really liked. I know I've got that one on DVD -- I've used it in some slide shows I've done!

Oh my, I must say I HATE the current Kodak song, that "True Colours" video, the fake sincerity and attempts to make you connect with the characters is highly cringeworthy. Makin' Memories is so much better and more fun!
'There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow' was the original, and the one it was meant to be, I quote from Wikipedia about the other -
Because of the changing times, a new theme song, written by the Sherman Brothers, was created for the Florida show. GE asked the Shermans to write a new song because they did not want their customers to wait for a "great big beautiful tomorrow;" GE wanted them to buy appliances today, so a song titled "Now is the Time," also known as "The Best Time Of Your Life," was created. Although the song was still very peppy and positive, the Shermans still felt that "There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" was a better fit.
I have both songs, and enjoy them both! :)

Man, I need to go to Kennywood! Old school = awesomeness. ;)
Here's the Innoventions plaza music for those of you that are curious, if any at all...

The first part is a piece titled "Papillon," and the second part, which is my favorite, (starts around 5:05 in the video) is an original piece by Disney.

My most memorable soundtracks:
The music from Typhoon Lagoon
The Pirates of the Caribbean Music
The music with the heartbeat that used to be played through Collosus's queue line.
It's a small world... :downcast:
I'm sure there's more but that's all I can think of at the moment.

I love the Nemesis music. I have the CD of the music, with the back-story of Nemesis narrated by Tom Baker, and the CD is autographed by John Wardley.
Some of my favourite music is on the various rides at Efteling, Netherlands. I have a CD of about 20 of the ride soundtracks, including Villa Volta and Dream Flight...really "pretty" music.
David.
anything at Port aventura....ah memories, I wanna go back so bad :(

C'mon... Who doesn't like It's a Small World? :) It's a memorable song!
I also like the one at Space Mountain Mission 2, Pirates Of The Caribbean, Tower of Terror, Armageddon Les Effects Speciaux, Just Like We Dreamed It (from the Once Upon a Dream Parade) and Flying (Year of a Million Dreams and, ok, Peter Pan soundtrack).
Oh and I also love that (ok, that's not a song) "Hi fawkes..." at Big Thunder Mountain :p
PS: Rock 'n' Roller Coaster also have a huge music, but that can not be a "Theme Park Music"

Hershey uses it in the Reese's Xtreme Cup que line.
I swear we were freakin' screaming this on front seat on Stormrunner's launch pad before launch. Oh,the crowd that attracted!

Loggers Leap of course (well that's where I know it from)! The cool old town music in Canada Creek at Thorpe Park has made of one the most rubbish areas into the park into a really nice place to go and eat!
