View Full Version : Humbleberry Hills -/\- Update 5.5 (10/17): TEASER! A RIDE!

Hey builders!
I'm Jazz-P, but please call me Jasper if you read this ;). I'm new on the forum, but I'm not quite a 'newby' to RCT. I have a real passion for designing, in RCT but also in real life. RCT is not a just a game, it's a way to use your creativity and get inspiration. I love it!
I've been following this forum for some while and concluded that the best of the best are all here: this is a great place to be:D.
I've been working on a park called 'Humbleberry Hills' for some weeks now, and after some designing, testing and improvisation I'm ready for 'exposure' ;). Please tell me what you think...
Here are some pics to 'warm you guys up' for what's coming.
http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/593/rembrandtsquare1lx0.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Here you see a little 'teaser' of Rembrandt Square, the entrance square to the park. Right in the middle stands a 'The Golden Carriage', a cozy merry-go-round.
http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/1838/waldbornn1tr2.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
On our left the train enters a tunnel. Right of the train you can get your umbrella's, maps and information: Guest Services! This time note the wooden paths heading up..Scroll down and see why..
http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/9829/waldbornn2af4.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
We are now entering a small area called 'Waldbornn'. Need I say more.
http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/9796/waldbornn3da3.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Last picture of today. A little kind of shop in Waldbornn.
MORE SOON! And than some 'full' pics. Makes it some what easier to look at ;) :D
Cya!

Dude, that's tight.
Great buildings, as well as building on an angle.
But you should go into options and boost the settings to maximum before taking pics.

Wow! So far this looks great! Your buildings skills are very good.
The entrance looks a little crowded and cramped and there isnt that much room to walk.
Overall I really like this so far.

;D I really like the park ;D But please take Marioman's advice and boost those settings ;D Also I don't really like the border you've put around your buildings :( I'd rather have them without the borders or if you still want them try making them smoother as they are quite jagged and distract from your wonder pictures ;D

I actually think these are my highest settings. :s :p ..I'll see what I can do but can't promise anything. Thanks for the advice anyway. I'll look to it. :D

Thank you! I try out almost everything before saying it's done :p sometimes pretty frustrating though ;)
About the available space at the entrance. I can fully understand you because those pic's look like it's a little bit too busy, but here you can see there's plenty of space. As you can see too, I've got A LOT of work to do (tickets, the actual entrance), but I'm working on that right now.! Thanks for the advice!

(You might ask yourself what those coastertracks do there in the middle of the plaza but I'm busy making it look like an 'H' (Humbleberry Hills;))
Wow, that's amazing, are you dutch?
Thanks! Actually I am Dutch ;) How did you notice? Rembrandt Square?;)

More pics, tonight or tomorrow. !

I LOVE the way you've combined all your sets --- If I might ask you to reveal one thing... What set do you use for your tudor-style wall peices? There a multiple different sets, but I dont recall seeing any that look that great!

Thank you Very very much for the compliment. Yeah, for the walls I used Gothic Walls by (I Thought) The Cook. First I didn't know what to do with it but after trying some stuff out I was smashed by the combination ;). !

Thank you, Immelman! There are a lot of talented people on this forum. I just hope I can add something of my own creativity, but it won't be easy ;).

Ok, it's looking like a lovely start but why are people going to buy tickets once already in the park...? Either the ticket offices need to be outside the castle, or you need some turnstiles before the park.

;D Lookin' great ;D You've got a great building style ;D Nice to see the borders are gone More please
It does look a lot better without the stupid borders hahah ;). Thanks!!
Love the ticket booth! It looks very cleverly designed ;D
Thank you! Well, actually, the walls are from the Medieval set, a set which has a lot of elements which do not quite fit with elements of other sets, so I was pretty limited in my possibilities compared to working with Shyguys sets for example. But I really LOVE the set, because it's not very complicated but looks really authentic and realistic.
Wow nice park mate. Great detail - cant wait for the next update (Y) 5 stars
Thanks a lot dude. :) Well, I might have to disappoint you because I can only work on the park on wednesdays and in the weekends, since I live on my own in the city to study during the week with a laptop which can't 'handle' RCT 3..But that makes working on the park even more fun when I DO, and I hope to update again soon.
This is looking great! Your architecture is very unique and I love it! Very realistic with a good layout. Terraforming is looking promising too becasue your clearly not working on the flat or just building hills to make it look terraformed! Great stuff!
Thank you very much. I'm very happy you like the terraforming (so far). In the past I mostly worked 'flat', because I live in a very flat country so I was used to be in and see flat parks. But the hills really add something to the park and now I can't stop using it. ;)
Wow! It does look better now, I really like this park.
All the Duth parks I have seen are amazing.
Thanks! I'm also suprised how many Dutch there are on this site. ;)
This park is super, great use of shyguy's alpine sets
Thanks! I really LOVE shyguy's alpine sets. You can use them any time you want! They're very practical.
Really looking good can't wait to see more. Love how you added that train in there. LOL you used a map of magic kingdom as your park map.
wow, sharp eye ;). Every park needs a train in my opinion haha;).
Looks fantastic, but I ask myself though where is that enctrance leading to? It looks like its on the border of your land... 5 stars however!
You're right, it is the land border.. I don't really know how to get rid of those fences. Maybe I should just start somewhere in the middle of the sand box and use a peep generator? What should you advice?
Wow this is a magnificent park! Everything is perfect and amazing. Great job! Your architecture is jaw dropping. I can't wait to see more of this! Great, great job!
Thank you very very much! These kind of reaction really motivate me to keep working hard on the park:D
Which set is the castle from? I really want to have it for a park of mine.. It looks awesome btw!
It's Ralfveins Medieval Set. Some people say the Dutch use this set too often, and I do agree if I look on Dutch sites. It's a pretty simple but beautiful set. You don't need a lot of skill to make it look nice and realistic. Apart from the entrance and maybe 1 or 2 attractions, I'll try to avoid overusing this set. Maybe elements in combination with in particular the shyguy or vodhin sets.
It's awesome!
I love the information board in the first update, from wich set is it?
Thanks! Uhm...To be honest with you, I really don't know right now :bulb: ..I'm on a computer without RCT so I'm sorry. When I get home, I'll look it up for you ;) promised! Just remember me ;)
Ok, it's looking like a lovely start but why are people going to buy tickets once already in the park...? Either the ticket offices need to be outside the castle, or you need some turnstiles before the park.
I came to that same conclusion as well when I posted the pics last saturday...:p I'm working on that, making like some kind of small entrace passage between the ticket booths and the trainroad. ;) Thanks for pointing it out :) I need a sharp eye haha;).
[b]Thank you for all the reactions so far! As I said earlies this post, I'm only able to work on the park on wednesdays and in the weekends, so there won't be an update every single days. I hope to give a big update on a weekly basis. :)
Please keep commenting to keep me busy untill the next update!

UH -OH , Another new Park Maker With amazing abilities to assemble and design .For a first posted work it is obvious that you have a great grasp of the game fundamentals.
I like the use of multiple level terrain and structures combined.
The structural detail is really eye catching , and with some lighting , and good camera angles I bet the night shots can really be something!!
Keep it up:up:

Hi Guys!
This update is called 'I'm a slow 1' because I might have to disappoint some of you who expected a lot more to see on this update. It is just that:
1. I don't have a lot of time to play RCT
2. I work slow and (sometimes too) perfectionistic
That said, I've decided to take a little more time between my update, about a week.
But I DO have some new pics for you tonight. I solved the 'I buy tickets but I don't need them to get in the park-problem' by making turnstyles! I might look a little bit cramped now, but you could also call it cozy ;).
'NUF SAID!
http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/1922/89256007rj3.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
here you can see the entrance + turnstyle building from a view inside the park. As you can see, a little bit of a spoiler here. There is a coaster track 'hanging' above the turnstyle-building. I won't say more....And there's more. The entrance has been upgraded. New windows, new sign and rock walls 'grap' the sidetowers
http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/4816/76602889zd3.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
The turnstyle-building from the other side, again with the coaster track ;)

Holy somethin' or other! I'm so glad to see a new member that has some serious talent and skill. I hope you stick around for a while and dazzle us...
Great look all around, there's really not much to critique on. I suppose the only thing I could say is the repetitive nature of the medieval set you're using, but you even mix that up with a unique, tasteful blend of scenery sets.
You, my friend, have picked up a new fan.

Hi Guys!
I´m back again. After a week full of blood, sweat and tears (without the blood and the tears, not much sweat either...) I have some new 'Humble-pics' for you.
Let's get to it!
http://img387.imageshack.us/img387/2466/43387644fy9.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Some people in the park call it the 'Mystery Track' since the park hasn't given ANY information about this coaster (yet). But they HAVE added some fancy supports on top of the turnstyle building.
http://img387.imageshack.us/img387/7499/29759555ox9.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Here we have one of the new buildings of the park. It's directly to your left when you enter the park. There are rumours that Humbleberry Hill's big boss stays on the top floor to oversee his domain.
http://img389.imageshack.us/img389/1011/38840278of9.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
The Park inspector reacted suprised to see the line-up of these benches. Whether he's positive about it we'll have to read in tomorrow's 'Berry Hills Daily'.

I present you the front side of 'Candyshop Lollipop'! It's a cozy little candy shop offering all kinds of candy. Most famour is the cotton candy, people say it's the best they've ever had!
http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/3089/44720093vu7.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Kids are dragging there parents to the candy shop in large numbers. (The logo will be redone. The boss wasn't quite happy with it yet.)
Let's have a look inside the shop!
[URL="http://imageshack.us"]http://img389.imageshack.us/img389/4822/15296970oy4.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Happy kids at the counter! Can it get any better?!:D
http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/861/65119768ks9.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
The shop is divided in 4 parts: Chocolate, Licorice, Candy Bars and Sweeties.

http://img389.imageshack.us/img389/9757/33051510vv0.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
What do we have here?:O The Golden Carriage is being redone. The park has announced that now the candy shop is done, they will put all their energy in Rembrandt Square, which still looks a little pale...
I leave you with a teaser of what's to come, sunday to be precise!

Thank you very much! It was tricky to make the candy shop look good, recognizable and also new and original. I'm happy you like it so much. And about the rides. They will be coming soon. But I know what you mean. For me, rides are as important as the architecture and the buildings. Maybe even less important. The buildings determine the park's atmosphere, not the rides alone.
WOW! that is amazing. I absolutly love the candy job!! =]

THANKS! I'm honored you gave me 5 stars and I see that you mean it since you took the effort to bold the word 'love' ;) hahah
You park has a wholelotta funky angles.. I like it! Nice work!
Thank you! It has some funky angles indeed haha, but I like that. It adds a little more realism to the park. Take a look in a random theme park, nothing there is 'just' straight ;) I hope the park inspector also likes it;)
This has SO much detail! I love it!
Thanks! I like to add some funky, unusual stuff to a building, but the trick is to keep it look realistic and within the theme.
Please!!!!!!!!!Just keep it up!!!!!!!!!Awesome work!!!!!!
hah! Although I don't have a lot of time to work on it, I love to do it so I'm not planning to stop with it anytime soon!!:D You only give me more reasons to keep it up, these reactions really motivate! Thanks ;)
W0W. That's very good. But... I might download the Dasmatze's Railroad crossing gates, do they stop the peeps from crossing when the train comes?
I'm afraid they don't. People just walk through the train. It's a little pity but you'll get over it, hah;)
Nope. I love this update. I wish I could go to Candyshop Lollypop to get that cotten candy.
Thank you very much! I told the Candyshop that you will be making a visit soon so they've stored some extra delicious cotton candy!:D
i can't wait to see some more! :)
Coming sunday there will be another update. Maybe update 4.5, maybe update 5, it depends on the progress ;)
That is a really good candy shop, if you do the rest of the park with that much detail it will be one of the best parks on the board right now.
Wow, thank you very much for that compliment. I'm honored! My park is still in its early days so I still have to prove what I'm worth but this is a great motivator for me! thanks!
Cya sunday!

Your park is very creative, especially your buildings. But be warned, don't go overboard with many colored pieces, and building wall types or it will start to look messy.

I love this, I just can't believe it. You have serious talent my friend and it will get better as you move on. Everything here looks really interesting, but as for the coaster, it looks like a inverted monorail or a "blue line" like in Disney World, if that is the case I would switch it to over rail sit down unless you want it to be unique, although I could be absolutely wrong and have been going on for nothing. As I said before this is amazing I give you 5 stars.

Why haven't I noticed this before?
It's absolutely brilliant; everything looks so nice and clean (and that sweetie shop is in my category of "best looking shops")

Your park is very creative, especially your buildings. But be warned, don't go overboard with many colored pieces, and building wall types or it will start to look messy.
I understand what you mean. It's always searching for some kind of balance which makes it looks creative but just not messy It's tricky but a fun job
It's really awesome!
Your buildings are from a lot of different sets, look at the building from the teaser
Oh, and from wich set is that building again (just remembering... )
That building was from the medieval set. But I can't be sure who made it because on two sites I read two different names:S
It just gets better!
You take a lot of time to get all the details in. I wish I had your patience!
Thank you! It takes a lot of patience indeed, but taking enough breaks does the trick
Clever use of scenery sets. I like how you integrated the candy canes into the walls of the shop. Very creative.
I really like the way this park is coming along. Keep up the great work!
Thank you very much!
Tomorrow the park will give a press conference about the 'Mystery Track' so don't miss it!:D It will reveal a lot of details about the future of the park! Thank you for the compliments !!:)

Wow, that's a great compliment ;) I'm happy that people feel the shop turned out well:D

HI GUYS!
I'm back in town haha:D.
Small to medium update today. No attractions yet, BUT I have great news: The next update WILL have a working, themed and funky attraction! Don't miss it!
Also don't miss tomorrow's press release about the so called 'Mystery Track'. Finally we will know a lot more about this unknown piece of art running through the park.
Let's get to it, shall we?
UPDATE 5: "REST IN PEACE, SIR"
This update we will have a look at a little bit of a secret place in the park only insiders really know: "Sir Huntington's Garden".
Sir Huntington was a man who lived in a great mansion 100 years ago, on the place the park is situated right now. It was a great gentleman, with a great reputation on astronomy. In 1915 he discovered a comet passing Saturn, he named it the 'Huntington Comet'. He died in 1932 and in honor to him the park decided to keep a part of Sir Huntington's Garden intact, and the building where Sir Huntington's coffin is situated is open to public aswell.
Sir Huntington's Garden is a quiet place in the park, situated right behind Candyshop Lollipop. You can only get there by passing behind the Candyshop and the exit path of the NEW attraction (which we will have a look at next update) will lead in Sir Huntington's Garden.
Let's have a peak.

The back side of the garden. With on the right the exit path 'ending up' in the garden.

Other side. With the 'Mystery Track' and the 'Statue of Peace' in front of the stairs where you can watch at Huntington's coffin and learn something about him.
(Probably, the statue in the building will move when the 'Mystery track' passes! But that are just rumours)

A closer look at the last restplace of Sir Huntington. Out of respect for the family, we can not show the coffin itself (yet) but it's there.

PRESS RELEASE: " 'Mystery Track' becomes Aorta
This afternoon, Humbleberry Hill's general manager, Mr. de Vries, finally away some more information about the unknown coaster track running through the heart of the park. After this press conference, the saying 'in the heart of the park' would indeed seem to be the most fitting.
'He's called: Aorta.' That were the first words we heard at the short but powerfull speech by the general manager. The suspended coaster Aorta will be like the most important vein in a human body. It will pass almost all the important paths, rides and squares and you can see the track from every outside point of view possible in the park.
Mr. De Vries couldn't tell us much about the lay-out of Aorta because it develops as the park construction continious, but he promised us it would become an intense, stomach turning but beautiful ride you will never forget.
One of the journalists raised the question about the lack of rides available at the park right now. Mr. De Vries reacted indifferent: 'Later, if guests think back about their time in Humbleberry Hills, we don't want the mto think only about Aorta or Floor Unknown (??!!?:O), we want them to think about the beauty of the park and the atmosphere it created. A memory for life. But as you know, we've promised a new ride soon, I'll keep my word'.

A coaster that grows with the park!
How original:D:up:, yet I hope you know the fatal flaw in your plan.;)
It is the fact that the ride will be shut down numerously to accommodate to the park's expansion along with it's own expansion.
I hope you realize this,as it is literally the straw that can break the camel's spine in half!

Interesting choice. I must say, not the most financially sound option around...but it keeps guests intrigue up. I'm under the impression the ride won't ever be open until the park is complete. But, won't there still have to be maintenance and upkeep on the parts of track that are complete? I mean, you wouldn't want a rusty old roller coaster sitting there for years while the park expands. On top of that, you keep sinking money into something that has zero chance of paying for itself until much later. Although, I suppose it's smaller investments over longer periods of time...meh. The color scheme as well doesn't shout "Aorta" and the name itself is less than appealing, but it's beautiful nonetheless and I hope it turns out as well as the rest of the park.

Excellent! Honestly, I had some minor doubts about this after the first page. It looked nice, better than most parks, but didn't quite have that awesomeness that really makes it stand out from the crowd. Well, I think you'v found it. This really is on a different level to before. I can't wait to see this continue.
Oh, and if it dosn't look to messy would you consider posting an overview? I'm always interested as to how the park flows.
I came to that same conclusion as well when I posted the pics last saturday...:p I'm working on that, making like some kind of small entrance passage between the ticket booths and the trainroad. ;) Thanks for pointing it out :) I need a sharp eye haha;).
Haha, it's all cool. We all make mistakes. And it did make me laugh. ;)
