well im bored right now so im gonna write a review of the halloween haunt at kings dominion. i went yesterday, and overall, it was pretty fun and scary.
First of all, we (me, My brother and my friend) got there at around 4:00 because I was planning to stay till midnight. We rode dominator first and then saw Spongebob 3D to kill some time before the mazes opened.
They had some cool stuff set up. during the day, they had red lights shining on the small river making it look like there was blood flowing in it. at night they had LOTS of fog, it was AWESOME! You could barely see anything! Ever seen the movie "the mist"? Ever wondered what it was like to walk around in that town? Well when you come to Halloween haunt, you'll find out!
So at 6:00, the first thing we went to was:
Maze of Madness:
Damn, i was scared! I never did anything at halloween haunt the time i went a year ago. I didn't know what to expect, I had no idea what it was like. So outside of the maze is a fake dummy thats getting electrocuted in this electric chair. its cool to watch the first time, but after waiting outside to get in, it was plain annoying. So when we got in, the lady outside is like "this is an insane asylum, be careful"
That creeped me out. So finally we get in the maze, and theres a woman standing there in a white hockey mask. she was in the corner standing still pretending to be dead or something. I looked away because I didn't want her jumping out at me or anything. so after that theres all these mirrors and crap, some of which are mixed in with windows, so when u walk by the windows an actor (known as "scaractors") jumps out and bangs on the window. that got me a few times. They also play heavy metal music in the background to keep the mood disturbing and frightening. One notable room in the maze is the freezer. its sort of cold, and there is fake body parts hanging and some guy shouting "GET OUT OF MY FREEZER!" the stupid thing is, he doesn't even tell you how to get out. so after that, you see some zombie guy hanging from the ceiling and a girl from the grudge crouching down ready to jump on you, and some ugly @$$ nurse motioning you to hop into an electric chair. there are more jump-out-at-you-crap-your-pants moments but i'm not gonna tell you where they are!
Rating: 10/10 This is the best maze in the park
So next is
Toxic Plague
This one is by where Hypersonic used to be. Some of these mazes have a loose storyline, like this one is supposed to be a plague that sweeps over a city and turns everyone psycho. This one has little fake bugs that hang from the ceiling and it feels like they crawl on you. there are more scaractors that jump out at you. One gross room is one where all this bloody meat is hanging from the ceiling and theres a guy covered in blood with a hacksaw saying to everyone, "C'mon lemme cut you in half!"
So my brother notices the meat and he says "I'll have a hamburger!" This one is decent, and is good for wimps like me because you have to go in a Congo line thing all the way down, so you feel safer.
Rating: 8/10
Club Blood:
So this thing is right next to the hurler, provides some good scares. It's basically a club where all the vampires hang out. They don't try to bite or anything, they have a rule that the actors aren't allowed to touch anyone.
There are a bunch of corners where all the scaractors hide, so beware. Also, watch out for a guy that looks like Einstein shot in the face. He jumped out at my brother and scared him real bad. I'd say this was one of the best mazes, there are a lot of other surprises, but I can't remember them all.
Rating: 9/10
Blackbeard's Revenge
Ah where can i start. This has to be the WORST maze of them all. This didn't scare me at ALL. IT'S HORRIBLE!!! no one jumps out at anything. Its just people standing and looking at you. one of the actors was even like " ah *mumble mumble* im not gonna scare you go ahead."
It had pretty good scenery though, and I think it was a lot less scarier cause it was outside too. if the wait is more than 15 minutes long, don't go in this thing
Rating 4/10 Would of got 2/10 if it wasn't for scenery
Big Top Terror
Avoid this, please. You have to pay a dollar for 3d glasses ur gonna use one time, and the 3d isn't even good. It's just stupid designs on the wall that look 3d. The actors sucked, no jumping out or anything. But what was funny was this one guy that kept blocking the 3 of us. he didnt let us pass for a while, and when he did, about 30 seconds later he ran in front of us and blocked us again, lol.
Rating 4/10 Equally as bad as Blackbeard's Revenge
Alien Outpost
this one is the one that closes flight of fear, its alien themed, just like the ride is. It's another maze with aliens that pop out (well some of them). My brother asked one of them if they were from mars, but then he's like "Oh wait i bet ur from URANUS!!!! HAHAHA".
That was one bad joke. Oh ya, one guy scared the crap out of me. We were walking and i was last in the line, so this skeleton mask guy sticks his face right in front of mine after my friend and my bother (oops i mean BROTHER) passed. I didn't know what to do so i just went like "woah!!!"
One of the aliens stalked us for a while down the maze, and i got all freaked out. I was pushing my way through going like "ah!!! ah!!! stalker!!! hes gonna kill us!!!" then my brother is like "Dude!! ITS JUST A GUY IN A COSTUME!!!" Way to ruin the fun idiot. One more funny event that happened is that these two girls were in front of us. They saw a costumed guy standing still. they knew he was gonna pop out at them, so the girls were just staring at him 5 feet behind this. me and my friend were like "screw this" and we walked in front of them and the scaractor and nothing happened. so the girls thought it was safe to go, and sure enough, i look back and the guy screamed and popped out at the girls. haha that was some funny stuff. By the way, they used WAY to many strobe lights.
Rating 7/10 Would of been 8/10 if it wasn't for the painful strobe lights
Blood Shed
This was pretty good. just the generic shack with ax murderers and farmers jumping out at you. I can't remember much of it, but i just remember i liked it a lot. definitely don't skip this.

Blue Ridge Bloodshed
This one was good. Its a car ride through a forest. although it's not that scary, its still fun. hey, its cars! they have scaractors with weapons that come right up to ur car and yell at you. its actually kind a scary. At the beginning, a guy comes up to ur car with a really LOUD chainsaw. it scared the crap out of me! If you like driving and you like people running up to you with weapons, don't miss this! its even more scary when u go alone!

Post your experiences here if you went to this before. I was really really bored so i felt like making a random review of this, so i hoped you enjoyed this.
Also, here are some tips so you don't poop your pants from getting scared so bad:
-Always expect that that person is real and not just a big doll standing there. I guarantee you 90% of the things standing still are scaractors waiting to strike
-Always expect someone is going to jump out at you or someone is hiding in the corner. That way u wont be surprised when they jump out
-When you see a scaractor, say hi to him and go like "whats up" or "how are you doing tonight" that way they wont bother you since they know you arent scared of them
-Don't look scared. walk boldly and look tough. i swear it works.
- try to stay in the middle of lines and groups. scaractors like to target the front and back of lines.
-just have fun, remember, the scaractors aren't allowed to touch you.
