Which coaster/thrill ride would you pick? I personally wouldnt choose a woodie because It would be too slow with only a 100ft ceiling.

Ceiling? What do you mean?

I mean the height ceiling for the park. Nothing in AT can be over 100ft because of all the planning regulations and stuff

Not really a woodie could be nice with a 100ft ceiling. Many of GCI's coasters are less then that tall and still provide a nice ride. Most woodies are less then 100ft also and most are nice. Make a coaster smooth and compact and it will fit in the area. With room to spare.

AT have trouble getting anything over 50ft, never mind 100! Air is only about 55ft or something.

GCI would be nice but I would prefer an Intamin prefab.

You can do a lot with a 100ft woodie. Look at Timber Wolf (not the WoF video, it was taken before the retracking and therefore before the trims were removed), it's amazing and it's only 100ft. Huge airtime, huge laterals...

I don't know about that. Here's a few examples.
Phoenix- Knoebels
Tremors- Silverwood
Timber Terror- Silverwood
Comet- Great Escape
DB Hurricane- Boomers, FL
Wild One- SFA
Viper- SFGAm.
Legend- Holiday World
Lightning Racer- Hersheypark
Ozark Wildcat-Celebration City
Raven- Holiday World
Ravine Flyer II- Waldameer
Not that bad of a list.;)
...Not saying AT will get a woodie, just responding to this post.

Woo hoo
But really it has already 3 big steel coasters and more if I am not mistakin
the park could really use a woodie because of the economic problems they are fun and family friendly. Not to mention kinda cheap depending on how high it goes. I could mention several other very fun 100ft woodies but I am lazy.:noob:

A woodie going through tunnels around the gardens...that would be awesome!
It would kinda ruin the gardens though...
Not to mention the sound too. I remember Oblivion had to take off a sound at the drop that went "Dont, Look, Down!" because it made people scream too much. I wish it was still there.. :(

I personally wish someone would buy the Roper's place so that Alton Towers can stop having the noise complaints.
My smart alec response is "The cork?"
Really, AT has been trying to get a wooden coaster for some time, and I'm sure that with some creative land work, they could fit a great woodie in there. However, from the ride surveys that were sent out, you're getting some sort of steel coaster... right now they're just trying to pick the theme.

If I remember correctly, the UK Atari meet that was half-planned, part of it was performing a food-based drive-by on the Roper's house.

Yeah, that would actually work. And they could theme it to be industrial or similar.

How does that work?

I believe you drive past and throw fast food at the house as opposed to the classic "shooting up tha place" drive by.

Eggs I believe are popular.

Oh I'm sorry I thought you said "Fast food". It was on balls of steel once but yes...eggs are the classic.
Then tar and feathers for the occupants!

Gravity Group.
Their coasters have gotten better and better.. I don't see why it shouldn't continue.
And if it would follow RFII and Voyage.. you might have the best woodie on Earth.

A Gravity Group or GCI. Alton Towers needs a nice woodie. They'd have to dig into the ground like with Nemesis, but height with some good planning, GCI or preferably GG could build somthing amazing that use the new terrain.
By the way Snoo, were you at Cedar Point on Sunday evening? I'm almost certain I saw you in Dragster's station (back half) waiting for the front at about 6:30 or so. You were wearing a black Tiffin Univ. shirt I think. Was that you?

Haha, I figured so. I thought about saying somthing, but with you were with friends so I didn't wan't to intrude (or look like a fool;)). But yeah, I was the kid in wearing the black "Fear X5" shirt with the logos of the major coasters on it, 4th row on the train right before yours. Funny how things work out like that!

In light of the new Saw: The Ride over at Thorpe I wouldn't be surprised if Merlin put in Date Movie: The Ride or something.

Quote from the Towers Almanac:
And here's something else that enthusiasts will like to hear - ATA has learned that the ride's codename will be Secret Weapon 6, or SW6 for short. The Secret Weapon codenames are well known to fans of the park - Nemesis was SW3, Oblivion was SW4 and Air was SW5.
This does not automatically mean that the ride will be manufactured by Bolliger & Mabillard, as all of the others were. There are various rumours as to the type of ride it will be; one such rumour is that it will be a Gerstlauer Eurofighter, an example of which can be found at Oakwood in the form of their ride Speed. A ride of this type was originally planned to replace the Black Hole but that plan was shelved at the time.
Another rumour is that it will be an Intamin Wing Rider coaster, such as Furius Baco at PortAventura in Spain.

Cool, I want it to be a wing rider! I really don't want it to be a Eurofighter though because Thorpe Park are already doing that!
