Poor performance in DRIV3R (PC)

Here is my PC config:
CPU - Intel P4 3 GHz
MOBO - Intel original D101GGC
RAM - 2 GB DDR 400 MHz
GPU - XFX nVidia Geforce 8600GT (512 MB DDR2)
HDD - Seagate 80 GB
OS - Windows XP pro

I installed DRIV3R but framrate was very poor ( < 10 ) @ 1024x768x32.
Then I changed all config to low but got no increase in performance.
I even lowered the resolution to 640x480x16 and turned off everything but it would not help. I have updated versions of drivers and DirectX and everything is set as application controlled in nVidia control panel.

(I have played crysis with medium settings @ 1024x768 but I can't play this game!!)

Any help ?

Sometimes with older games, the most up-to-date drivers can cause problems. I'm not sure if that's what is happening in your case, but it's a possibility.
