Track has appeared in Kennywood's parking lot that is exactly the same as the Phantom's Revenge track. No one knows if they are just replacing the old Arrow track or extending a coaster often criticized for being too short.
I don't know how to resize images. Help please

The lift hill and the first half of the second hill are the only sections that are still Arrow track. The rest of the coaster is Morgan track like in the picture above that was part of the 2001 re-profiling of the Steel Phantom.

just use shot tags instead of img tags.
example you use , well just place [shot]
I think they are going to replace the old arrow tracks.

It has pretty much been confirmed that the Arrow track from the top of the lift through the top of the second hill will be replaced meeting with the rest of the Morgan track that was part of the 2001 re-profiling. Also the rise up the second hill will be drawn out a bit to provide a smoother ride. Now the only Arrow track remaining is the brake run, station, and lift.

I think morgan/chance made the track because all the track that was replaced when Steel Phantom turned into Phantoms revange all the new track was made by morgan. Also morgan make their own track. Look at Steel force and all their other rides.

Yes
He means, it's weird that you wrote your name on each of the images.
Apparently I don't like this, because I wish I had this coaster. Now I'm gonna drown in a sea of bragging.

They're just replacing existing track. Nothing new to the layout. No need for the east coast vs. west coast thing. That was settled a while ago when you went to BGE :D.
I just wish they had put some of the money into upgrading the station. The station is probably the crappiest of any steel coaster I've been on.

I'm sorry, but I couldn't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am.
With the new track I guess that'll make this coaster more fun in the back. :p

^ Yes, it's Morgan track who redeveloped Steel Phantom and are not chaining it more. Please read the topic [backseatmod/].

:haha:
Anyway, yeah, the second half of the coaster has Morgan track from the 2001 re-profiling like so...

While the first drop and half of the second hill kept the Arrow track like so...
Now the only Arrow track left will be the break run, station, and lift

Both are my pics by the way :D
And as a fun fact back in the day it used to be this...hence the arrow track.

Rough would be an understatement. Glad I did ride it though. I miss the loops as headache inducing as they were.

You can tell the differences in track by the way the cross ties attach to the spine.

Arrow trains + hyper looper = Pain
The world's fastest coaster came at a price in 1991 when Arrow was the dominant name in the industry.

Bring on the new track. It will only make the Phantom's Revenge even more enjoyable to ride when I visit in 2009.:D

Cool, when are you going? You're coming a long way from FL. I'll be heading up in early June. It'll be the first time in Pennsylvania since 2006. As far as distance goes, it's nothing compared to my trip I have planned in August of next year. ...I'll be heading to CGA, SFDK, and Santa Cruz.

You'll have more than one chance to meet up. I'll be visiting Waldameer, Cedar Point (2 days), Kings Island, and hopefully Holiday World during that week too.;)

I didn't realize he was doing a park tour of the area. The only reason people ever travel that far to go to Kennywood (usually) is if they have family in the area or are really into amusement parks. It's not really a tourist place (IMO) like Busch Gardens or Sea World.
Would be cool to do a meet up with Alpie and Snoo. I'm familiar with Snoo but not so much Alpie. I've seen him around the forum but that's about it.

...and ME!
I honestly think the only reason BGE gets alot of tourists is because it's not too far from Colonial Williamsburg. I know, I'm probably stating the obvious. Sea World is just a big name the general public knows very well.

Kennywood president to resign at end of year
Monday, December 08, 2008
By Joyce Gannon, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Peter McAneny, president of Kennywood Entertainment, will resign at the end of the year, the company said.
Mr. McAneny, 56 will stay on for an undetermined period of time to help with the transition in ownership to Spanish-based Parques Reunidos, which bought the landmark West Mifflin amusement park and its affiliated parks earlier this year.
Joyce Gannon can be reached at jgannon@post-gazette.com or 412-263-1580.

From what I've heard many management members were very bitter about the sale earlier this year.

Kennywood is definently a stop on my "Coast turns 18 Coaster Riding Trip" in 2011. On the way to Waldameer and CP.
I've heard you can definently feel the diference between the Morgan and Arrow parts. They went and refurbed, so it only makes sense to get rid of the whole past.
....and that it's one of the best parks in the country. My #1 park for sure.
Yeah, like the general public really know that. They don't know the difference unless it's Disney or Universal.

There was a slight difference, but without the OTSRs the remaining Arrow track was very smooth. I never even thought the track needed replaced but the maintenance people had a different story.
If you're comparing the Steel Phantom and Phantom's Revenge, then yes the difference is like night and day.
