Your uncle? Unless he works for Dippin' Dots, I doubt he knows.
Does he have some sort of in with the company? I haven't seen any rumors whatsoever regarding a park in Florida. I dunno.

No, it's not going to happen... at least not anytime soon. I believe that this is just a rumor at this point, as it has been for the last few years. I saw a recent SP Times article about it, but with Six Flags' current financial status (owing billions of dollars in debt), it's very unlikely.
I know that Six Flags owns some property and there's been a few new hotels going into the area recently, but I think it will be a few years before we see any kind of theme park that goes in around Pasco County. :)

thx im just telling you guys what he told me. so idk, and yes there has been quite a few hotels going up lately. form what my uncle has told me he says that over 160 acres have been bought by the six flags company.

And a member of the Geek Squad told me that in 2006 RCT4 was coming with an improved game engine...
Sorry to spoil the fun, but it ain't happening. Six Flags is in no position to build a new park right now. Besides, Six Flags only ever built about two parks from the ground up...and that was in the 50's.
Sorry :D!

There have been rumors circulating about SF building a park in Florida for years... decades, even. I heard one recently about SF trying to build a park in the Panhandle area.
It is true that at one time, SF was looking at building a park in Florida, but ditched the idea. Originally, SFoG was built to be the "Disneyland of the Southeast" but as SFoG was being completed, Disney announced Disneyworld.
Will SF ever build a park in Florida? Who knows? Given their major financial problems recently, you won't see a SF park there anytime soon. Of course, if someone comes in and gives them enough of a financial boost, they might do it.

I've heard of this, they're going to paint it black and red add some fire and music and call it Six flags2. Then they'll advertise it as something incredible.
Seriously, this is bull.

I don't believe they have the available financial resources to build a new park from the ground up. In order to avoid bankruptcy in 2009, instead of adding a park, I think it is very likely they'll need to sell a couple of parks.

Well, my uncle's friend's cousin's brother told me...
Anyways, back to seriousness, not gonna happen. Six Flags isn't exactly doing great right now, and I highly doubt they have the money to build huge rides right now, let alone new parks.

Well if they moved all the coasters from SFKK and SFA:( they could but I seriously doubt they would. There is to much compition. They would be better off fixing old parks in good locations such as the the parks mentioned above.

Sorry. I just had to.
Six Flags needs to get rid of some parks. Such as Kentucky Kingdom. It's not much of a money maker and from what I've heard it really is the worst of the parks.

the thing is with with florida, that all the amuesment parks are on the west side of florida(orlado, tampa...) if six flags WERE to make a park, they should put it on the east coast, it would bring MORE tourisim there(and there wouldnt be just beaches, sand, ect.) , or somwhere near there, so its not a 3 -5 hour drive to get to an amuesment park from the east to the west coast.
now, considering the financial crisis six flags is in, im not getting my hopes up for a florida six flags(let alone an east coast one)
if they did do it though and found a way around their financial crisis(maybe stripping/selling older and bad six flags) and building a florida six flags, im not complainen, it just means new rollercoaster designs:)
so will it happen?= probaly not
if it happens, where should it happen?=east coast
how awesome would it be if there would be a six flags florida?= awesome

Zach, hurricanes are the main reason there aren't more parks in Florida, especially the east coast. Consider just how bad SFI got burned on SF New Orleans. They lost millions and millions... and now insurance companies are refusing to insure holdings in Florida from hurricanes. They'd be nuts to build a park on the east coast. West coast? That's another matter.

I would, if it means sacrificing the quality of other parks. Like I've said before in an earlier thread, Six Flags needs to trim down to about 8 to 10 parks.

Six Flags, in florida, hahahahaha. Wow, dispite the multiple rumors you have heard, it probably won't happen. Finacailly, there no where close to building new parks. Locatation, sorry, SFNO already got crippled, and unless your moving away from the west cost, you could get killed with hurricanes, look at Hurricane Andrew and Miami. The panhandle hasn't faired that bad as of late, but still.

Hi every one, im Ryan, im 14 and i know pretty much every thing about every theme park/roller coaster in the world. (well pretty close) but anyway im here to inform you that there might be a new six flags park in florida near the new port richey area. My uncle told me on halloween that they were already starting to clear the area for it about less than a mile away from his house. I was just wondering if any one else knew about it besides me.
That's a pretty bold statement from someone who has probably just maybe ridden his first coaster.

OK, rydrmr9, here's a real softball question for you...
What's the most significant difference between the bunny hops on an Arrow hyper coaster versus the bunny hops on a Morgan hyper coaster?
Care for another one? What happened to the Crystal Beach Cyclone?
I have to admit, I find it amusing. I don't feel like I know everything there is to know about roller coasters and amusement parks, yet I've been to over 190 amusement parks, I've ridden over 650 different roller coasters, I worked at an amusement park for 4 summers, I interviewed with the president of Intamin USA for a job, I've interviewed with designers at Walt Disney Imagineering, I've talked to designers at Arrow (before they went bankrupt and were bought by S&S) and Larson International, and I've talked to numerous general managers, vice presidents, etc., from amusement park companies, including interviewing them for business study projects when I was working on my MBA.
As a result, I feel I know more about coasters than a lot of people, not as much as some others, but I definitely don't feel like I know everything there is to know about them.

I think you would help your case if you were to "kno" a little about spelling and grammar. Seriously, I'm thirteen and I have no problems with spelling or grammar.
EDIT: Oh, and Harpo, I believe I know the answer to the question about the Cyclone. It was demolished in the mid-40s due to high maintenance costs. The ride had very high g-forces exerted on the supports, which resulted in the costs.

But anyone can just go on rcdb and look those up. You don't have to know them.
Question:
I'm thinking of a roller coaster (in Florida) with these stats:
Height: 112' | Drop: 80' | Speed: 50 mph

You're close.
It actually has a rather interesting history. It was a coaster that had a nurse's station at the exit due to how rough it was. It was torn down because of that roughness, but its parts were used to create the Crystal Beach Comet. When Crystal Beach closed, the coaster was given a 3rd life... it is now the Comet at Great Escape in Lake George, NY. In my opinion, it is an enjoyable coaster, and one that I'm glad has been saved.
As for the difference between the bunny hops on an Arrow hyper coaster versus a Morgan hyper coaster... the Arrow hyper coaster bunny hop hills are pyramidial-shaped. The Morgan bunny hop hills have a smoother curve. The result: the bunny hops on Morgan coasters are less brutal, but the Arrow bunny hops have more dramatic air effects.

Interesting. I heard that the ride was very rough, but I thought the nurse was mainly a publicity stunt.
And the fact about the bunny hills is neat. Thanks for information, Harpo.

Theme park rumor nothing but fantasy
Published Wednesday, November 26, 2008 4:33 PM
Thanksgiving traditions are to be set aside this year. No large meal. No football on television. We will travel, but not to a relative's house for turkey and trimmings.
At least that is the plan as this is being written. We will head to the Orlando area for a theme park visit. Yes, the lyrics to It's a Small World will be replacing Over the River and Through the Woods. Hardly a fair trade.
The 80-odd mile trip eastward also should help illustrate another truth that some members of the public are certainly slow to grasp. There is no theme park in Pasco or Hernando and one isn't planned. Not in Bayonet Point. Not in Aripeka. Not at Interstate 75.
Times staff writer Jodie Tillman debunked this rumor in a story published Aug. 30. The chatter, however, refuses to quiet down.
Several days ago, I picked up a ringing telephone in the Port Richey newsroom, only to be greeted by a breathless woman who said that Six Flags is coming. Specifically, she said, it would come to the site already discounted by Tillman's story — west of the U.S. 19 and State Road 52 intersection in Bayonet Point.
The caller was insistent. She had it from a reliable authority. Her source, whom she declined to identify, told her Sen. Mike Fasano and Pasco County Administrator John Gallagher already knew about it, but they had been told to be hush-hush until the real estate transaction closed.
Gallagher and Fasano keeping quiet about economic development? Hard to believe. In fact, don't believe it. Your own sixth flag should be red and it should be raised in skepticism.
"If anything of that magnitude was coming, and if I knew and John Gallagher knew, we would have been bragging about and I'd be up in Tallahassee trying to get any assistance for them that I could,'' said Fasano.
The rumor, he acknowledged, just won't go away. He heard it numerous times during his recently completed re-election campaign.
It has been circulating for years with Hernando County the presumed location in a 2004 incarnation. It was debunked then, too.
Internet message boards visited by theme park patrons help keep the dialogue going. One recent thread started because a 14-year-old boy said his uncle told him Six Flags already was clearing land for its west Pasco theme park. Instead of typing on a keyboard, the teenager would be better served by keeping his eyes peeled during a drive down U.S. 19.
Two weeks ago, Fasano and Gallagher addressed a meeting of the Suncoast Bingo Council. A question from the floor included — you guessed it — an inquiry about Six Flags.
Gallagher did his best to quash the rumor, pointing to the multimillion-dollar expense of highway and infrastructure improvements that would be required and, Fasano said, noting the talked about Bayonet Point site makes little sense because of its distance from Interstate 75 and the Suncoast Parkway.
There is plenty of other evidence to consider if someone wanted to check beyond their uncle's say-so. For starters, Six Flags was unable to reopen its theme park in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Why would it seek to build another park in a coastal high-hazard flood zone between U.S. 19 and the Gulf of Mexico?
Consider attendance has been so moribund at smaller parks that Cypress Gardens closed temporarily and is divesting itself of its amusement rides. Or perhaps rumormongers could take note that the supposed site in west Pasco is too small to accommodate a theme park and it abuts a 3,600-acre state park preservation, which would preclude a westward expansion.
If Six Flags is coming, ''it's the best-kept secret because nobody knows about it,'' said Fasano. Or, it just might be the worst-kept secret since everybody seems to know somebody who heard from their uncle that it's happening.
So, today, as you savor your turkey breast meat, stuffing with sausage, sweet potatoes and pumpkin pie, please feel free to overindulge. Eat until you can eat no more.
The last thing you need to do is leave room to swallow more malarkey.
Let's compare that with the first post of this thread...
