Hard Rock Park for Sale
After only six months of operation, the $400 million theme park has been offered for sale. The current owners hope to have the park sold by the end of the year, and will not reopen in 2009 if the park is not sold.
Hard Rock Park had a soft opening in April of this year after seven years of planning and development. By the time the park opened little of the development money was left for advertising, and the downturn in economy and the current credit crisis made it impossible to borrow more. The park had projected attracting about 30,000 people a day and 3 million a year, but attendance fell far short of that (well-established Cedar Point barely manages 3 million per year). By September, park executives filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and closed the park for the season.
Hard Rock Park is home to home to 5 steel roller coasters including a B&M multi-element coaster.
OMG!

It is a shame that they run out of money and they have to sell the park. I hope someone does buy it, it looks like a great park.

Maybe they can clear out some unnecessary scenery and get some money back. Oh, wait, that only works in the RCT games.:(

I think no one is going to buy it to keep it open. They would buy it for the rides. Almost new B&M twister anyone?

That's too bad! Oh and I'll take the B&M.

To tell you the truth, the park never really impressed me. I would roll my eyes everytime someone mentioned HRP in the same breath as IOA. See. Anyway, it's still sad to see a park go under after just one year of operations. Oh well.

I'll scrounge up everything I can to buy the park.
Let's see... 94, 95, 96...
97 cents and some pocket lint. Will that be enough? (I'll just have to pass on my afternoon candy bar!)

Yup thats about how much it is worth. Poor location, a B&M with a bad case of rattle, A Vekoma, And a bunch of other stuff. Going once, Going twice, Sold to Harpo for 96 cents and some pocket lint. CC9 gets the B&M for 3 dollars 89 cents. It will arive at your house in 4-6 days. Make room for it!

It's simple- the park suffered from
-Lack of advertising
-The poor economy
-Overpriced admission
-Operating hours that were just too long (I mean, closing past midnight!?!)
-Lack of another signiture ride
-Severe misjudgement about profitability, attendence, etc.
Hopefully it can find another owner, but it will be hard.

Hmmmm.....
Harpo, add $1.13 to your total.
That's over two dollars.
Halfway to buying Knoebel's, though.....

Hmm...bummer.
This park wasn't really put in a very good spot. That huge lake eats up way too much land. Though I think most of the park is pretty pooler planned, so this doesn't surprise me.

Wow, sad for a new park to be gone so soon. Can't say I didn't see it coming though.
