Most of the threads in the Amusement park section invole theme parks and rides in America, so I decided to make a thread where no one is allowed to talk about any theme parks outside the UK!!! In here all you British people can say what your favourite British parks are, and talsk about anything British Theme Park related!
My favourite is Blackpool Pleaseure Beach!!

Rule Britannia....:D
Alton Towers hand down
and abcde... BBPB! Seroiusly!! It has some well themed parts, and the best darkride in britain, but roller coasters are proper shocking!
I go alot but it doesnt get any better;)
although there is one delight about the pleasure beach, the first drop of the pepsi max is breathless, just the dull layout after that makes me sad.
1st- Alton Towers- Best in europe IMO
2nd-Thorpe Park
3rd- Flamingoland
4th- Drayton Manor
5th- BBPB
6th- oakwood
7th- Ligh****er Valley
Any more?

Haha, they call me eagle eyes;)
Nar, like, the main part for roller coasters, that side where the main road is, there not themed, car park coasters which looks poor.
The family rides on the other hand have moderately good theming
willo22sly
11-12-2008, 06:00 PM
I didnt think there was any themeing there....
willo22sly
sykesie-92
11-12-2008, 06:11 PM
Haha, well
the themed rides are
Valhalla- best dark ride in Britain, quite extensively themed
Gold Mine- Quite extensive theming
River caves-quite extensive theming
Ghost Train
Impossible
Magic Mountain
Motor Boats
Noahs Ark
Pirate ride
Alice ride
Beaver Creek
trauma towers
Quite alot, there, but only Valhalla is classed as a major attraction, rest are family ride or just crappy little instalments
elljhitch
11-12-2008, 06:14 PM
I've been on all of the attractions you listed and I didn't really see any extensive themeing apart fom Valhalla!
sykesie-92
11-12-2008, 06:16 PM
Haha actually, your probly right!
apart from the gold mines got a big theme

I bet no one has been to this theme park that I sometimes go to.
Milky Way (http://themilkyway.co.uk/)
Its really bad but they have a pinfari (Cosmic Typhoon), a wacky worm and the 2nd suspended coaster in the Uk (Clone zone).
The theming there is futuristic but only clone zone really has the only decent theming there. You start of in a mothership. You get blasted to a different spaceship and you walk through these small corridors with people dressed up as aliens sounding like they have mental problems or something.. Then you get to the coaster where its pretty rough at the back (which basically seats 1 adult or 1 adult and 1 child) and I think you go through the spaceship and then into the stars then out of nowhere you suddenly stop and a stick reaches out infront of you and does a "Rarrr" sound. You can literally grab it and pull it off. It then finishes and you can hear people going "Is that it?"
I think they should get something like a 1 looped swarchzkopf or a looping pinfari. Or some flat rides which would be great. They are taking the right choices so far but at the moment its pretty boring there...

Looks like a quaint little park
Ye, it should have a looping pinfari or somthing, i think they'd have to by a old model swarchkoft because he died :(
R.I.P Sir, he was a big development in roller coasters
Or do they still make coasters?
Anyone been to ligh****er valley?

^^ Looks alright, but it doesn't compare to another small park I went to recently, Drayton Manor!!! When I arrived I was suprised to see how samll the park was, and how everything was so crammed together. But suprisingly, the themeing was quite good! (apart from the horrible square station of G-Force!!) The coasters and flat rides were also amazing!! G-Force and Shockwave were extremely fun, and Pandemonium was great!!! And for some reason I went to Thomas Land, which was actually really well themed, and had some great rides for the kids! Overall, it is like a mini Alton Towers!!

abcde... Ye draytons good!
One of the better theme parks in Britain, shockwaves a bit rough but i think stand up coasters are ridiculous
G Force is pretty good, ye poor theming but the X-Cars are proper sick!
RctRoker- Would you be from Yorkshire at all ;)
Just you mentioned ligh****er valley and flamingo land which IMO are really decent parks
Flamingo lands got some brilliant coasters, especially the really smooth kumali, and there getting an El Loco
Ligh****er valley- The ultimate- its rough, its made by British rail!! but what a gem of a ride, its up there on my ride count as one of the best!!
I think there rumoured to be getting a inverted intamin or vekoma arnt they? Big step for ligh****er valley

Alton Towers is the best, of course, but I really like Oakwood and Flamingoland, as some people don't often mention. Really nice parks! :)

Best Flat Rides: Thorpe Park

Haha, thorpes just not alton towers!
its a good park don't get me wrong, but its just.. meh
I mean, alton towers are raising the bench mark in europe, and to an extents the world.
And unlike thorpe, its a family park, has something for the whole family
as decent theming, and the fact that i cant build above tree level, means that the major rides are just... they have so much charater
Secret weapon 6, sounds like another bench mark coaster, il updates that thread in a second with the new news:D
-Brad
I think that if Thorpe Park wasnt that close to London then it would have less chavs. Thats my opinion btw.. :P
Best Coasters: Blackpool Pleasure Beach
Best Theming: Alton Towers
Best Flat Rides: Thorpe Park
True but I dunno about Blackpool with the best coasters. Are they any good?

Irn Bru Revolution
Pepsi Max Big One (Amazing first drop!!)

Grand National rules, and so do the other woodies (to a lesser extent). The Pepsi Max Big One is okay, there's just not much to it after the first drop.
My favourite UK parks are:
1) Blackpool Pleasure Beach. (Mainly because of the Grand National and all the classic dark rides)
2) Oakwood.
3) Alton Towers.
My least favourite:
1) Thorpe Park.
sykesie-92
11-14-2008, 03:21 PM
Haha
Yeye, they have alot of roller coasters, but none of any class
Pepsi max has got a good drop, but the layout there after is sooo dull!
Infusions a old refurbished, rough vekoma!
and tbh, all the others are really old and dated rides, all of which provide any considerable thrill maybe barring grand national for being legendary, the rest are all basically.. pants!
One really good ride- Valhalla
I go alot, and there is worst parks

/\ I know!! How is Nemesis Inferno better than Nemesis!!!
And also the Vampire above Spinball whizzer!! What were you thinking??!?!!
Everyone has a personal taste..
Vampire is above Spinball because it was my second major coaster and was a very memorable coaster being 10.
Nemesis is below NI because when I went to queue for Nemesis, throughout the queue there was rap music playing on the tv screens and chavs behind me playing their favourite "DRUM N BASS!! INNIT!!" song. They even forced me to get out of the last seats into the second to last seats. Then throughout the ride they were swearing, spitting, groping each other etc. Whereas on NI, the music is great and I have yet to see a person trying to act like a chav. Also I think NI's loop is better because of the more positive G's and have you stood where the train comes out of the loop and goes over the path? Its so cool :p
I really do think Nemesis is great but those chavs just spoilt it for me... If they werent there then it would be further up my list..

Pepsi-Max as it is the second or third tallest in europe, Grand National is one of the best woodies, Infusion is good for a UK park, Avalanche is the only Bobsled in Britain.

Haha sorry but, i do agree about the grand national, but the rest are just comments not actually describing why there good;)
The pepsi max is tall- but does this make it a good coaster?
because its tall does the rest of the dull layout suddenly become brilliant?
The layout is awful
I dont think infusion is good for a uk park in all honesty, an old vekoma invert, plainting it and putting it over water really isnt a good purchase in whats supposed to be a premier theme park!
And Avalanche is the only bobsled... but is still a dull ride at that, there so many more rides better across britain

sykesie-92
11-18-2008, 01:28 PM
ye vallhallas good, best dark ride in britain
but im a coaster man myself, and no good dark ride can change my mind that BBPB is past its peak, it was once world class, but is now outdated, and with there financial situation, thats not going to change
Sorry

I think Infusion is a bit over the top by claiming it "The only coaster to be fully over water in the world". Do log flumes get world records? Nope..

I have to say as far as parks go I always look for parks with great themed areas and attractions, so on the whole most UK parks fall short. Being from Middlesbrough I haven't hit too many of the parks down South, so I won't comment on them. My favourite park is probably Blackpool Pleasure Beach. It offers good value for money in comparison to other English parks and there's a lot to do. Some of the coasters have their faults but I still enjoy going on them. Don't get me started on Valhalla, an amazing dark ride and, in my opinion, the best water ride in the world.
Infusion, whilst us coaster enthusiasts will disagree, is a stroke of genius by the management at the Pleasure Beach. Take an old coaster from another park, re-paint it then put it over water at a cost much lower than that of a new coaster install. It gave the Pleasure Beach a more modern image, which it was lacking overall with not having any new coaster installs in a while. So yes, bad for us but great for the park. By the way, has anyone noticed the model near the photo area is actually of a B and M inverted coaster?
Flamingo Land has areas which are great to look at and some which are eyesores, that's what puts me off the park a little. The area near Kumali and towards the flume are nicely themed and remind me of both of the Busch Gardens parks. However Metropolis isn't a Metropolis, in fact it's a car park with a rusty Corkscrew in it, bad show in my opinion.
Light Water Valley is great for Ultimate but not much else. I wouldn't bother going back, unless I got the urge for another ride on Ultimate, but that's not really worth the price.

But that's exactly what i think!!
Yes, its genius by a park with little money.. but does that make it the best park supplying the best thrills? Is a old, poor coaster made better because it was money well invested?
I'm an enthusiast, i know the parks financial situation is dire and that was a good purchase for the money, but thrills are thrills, no matter what, a multi- million pound investment in a coaster like nemmy, is always going to be better that that old cheap crap BBPB invested in.
I just don't understand why it being cheap is an issue with the thrill it gives?
IMO, AT and Thorpe park are going places, they have a big financial backing, and a park like AT is setting the benchmarks world wide, with big thrills, innovative models and amazing demonstrations of civil engineering considering there landscaping.
Rant over:p
