Most of the time when I attempt to play Silverfall, I get something like the above message. I've spent as much as an hour trying to get the game started without success.
Just the other day, I was going to post this, and I attempted to start up the game just to see the message again, and it started up fine.
I guess I should mention that I've played the game several times without one issue, and then this suddenly appeared.
I've read other posts about this topic on this forum, and I've tried copying the DVD to my HD and then installing from there, but that doesn't seem to be the answer.
Does anyone have a clue as to how to fix this?
If I can't find a fix for this, I hope a future patch solves this problem. I enjoy playing this game, but attempting to load a game for an hour straight is no fun.

Dangerous Dave,
You've made tow posts abouit the problem, one here and the other in the SUpport thread.
The two posts seems to contradict eaach other.
One seems to say that you can't get the game to run at all, the other (here in this thread) seems to says the game works 'sometimes'.
Have you patched the game to version 1.17? If not, please do so. I suggest you do NOT patch the editor, as that seems to screw up the graphics.
If you have patched the game to version 1.17, the go to megagames and download a "game fix" A game fix allows you to play the game without needing to have the disk in your drive. Here's a link to the fixes for Silverfall at Megagames http://www.megagames.com/cracks/html/c922030_0.htm
There is nothing illegal about this as long as you own a legal copy of the game on disk.
Brewmaster comes here frequently, and may have more insight for you.

Since I believe that this problem is a copy protection issue anyway (caused by an incompatible DVD drive or a chat program or ...), I'm in joyful anticipation looking forward to hearing whether fleetp's suggestion was a success or not. :)
Btw, if the game works/worked "sometimes", it would be interesting to know if you have changed your pc config lately (software & hardware) ...
Besides, I wouldn't expect any more patches for SF in the future.

Thanks, guys.
I had another post in another thread because I posted here before I realized I should've posted this concern in the other "support" forum, and I didn't see a delete button for this thread.
Anyway, I have installed the latest patch, and I can (only when really lucky) still play the game. It was playing without any issues at all for the first few days, then this started.
Since I was uninstalling older games and such, I guess it could be a change somewhere in software, but I've never had issues with that before with any other video game I've loaded on my PC.
At any rate, I'm going to download that program, and I'll let you guys know if that helps or not.
Thanks again!
Edit: After that download, the game has properly loaded 5 out of 5 tries. It looks like everything is OK now. :)
I'll be sure to post if I have any further issues.
Thank you!

Just for the record:
I installed a new graphic card today, updated the drivers etc. - and right afterwards I noticed that my Silverfall/EA had exactly the same error, LOL. :D (of course I didn't touch the original installation)
Funny thing this bug (or whatever it is). I have 2 dvd drives and the other one works fine, so no big prob.

For those who do not have 2 DVD drives, a solution is to use a no DVD fix This is a special user created program theat aallows you to play the game without the DVD. There is nothing illegal about this as long as you own the game. You can download a no DVD fix at Megagemes. Here's a link
http://www.megagames.com/cracks/html/c922030_0.htm
Run the no DVD fix after installing the game.
