I am unable to install the old Infogrames' Thomas Railway Adventures game on an XP system.
Does anybody have any suggestions on getting a game of that vintage with the CD copy protection system to work on a new OS like XP or Vista?
I have the original CD, it just keeps finding new ways to not properly run.
Thanks

What OS was this game originally meant for?
If for Win 95, Did you try enabling Windows 95 compatibility in the properties of a shortcut to your application ?
(not sure if it's the same for Win 98 games)

I believe the software was written for win 98. Approx. 4 years ago I used it on a win 98 machine (different hardware from my current machine).
I have tried running the software with compatibility mode enabled for the icon, but I receive the same error as when that mode is not selected.
In general, the software is difficult to install (generating several different errors). I managed to get it installed on one of my win 98 machines, only to have it stall when I try to play the game. It asks for the CD to be placed in the CD drive, even though it is already there. I think this software used a copy protection routine that looked for something on the original disk, but that routine does not work properly under XP.

Moved to appropriate forum. Atari Retro is for actual Atari products from the previous Atari's.
