View Full Version : Has MC cut down internet play?

... or is it just a temporary problem with one of their servers?

There are people in the French and German forums who cannot connect to the games browser (i.e. to other internet games) or register game accounts via the internet menu in Silverfall or Earth Awakening (including myself). The particular problem persists for a couple of days now (I don't know how long exactly) and afaik it is in no way connected with firewall or other tech issues.

Could someone from this forum kindly check whether the connection problem affects the English community, too?

Thx.

Does really no one of you play Silverfall on the internet?

Hey, it's good old Diablo-style with much better graphics, I've played it for a few months, it's fun. :)

It would also be interesting to know if someone with a downloaded version (from Atari, Steam, etc.) can use the multiplayer at the moment.

Nope, I get 'Impossible to connect' with Earth Awakening. I'm having a hard enough time just playing the game every few weeks let alone spend time for multiplayer.

Ok, thx for trying it out, DaveO_MM, and welcome to the Impossible-to-connect-team.

Do I understand you correctly: you are using a download-version (some of them seem to be different/incompatible in MP, that's why I'm asking)?

Yeah, I bought EA for $20 from Steam. It was well worth the money, although I've yet to reach the content. When I get to that point, expect more posts since I'll probably gather my thoughts on how to make a walkthru of EA.

P.S. - The game that seems closest to Silverfall/EA is Dungeon Siege, although the mechanics and the interface are different.

Ah, ok, thx again for the info, DaveO_MM.

P.S.: If you want to create a walkthru for EA just tell me, I could help you if you like (but put that into a new thread).

P.P.S.: There's a big mod for DS called "Lazarus" - already dl'ed but didn't play it yet - which looks great.

I received a message from support@montecristogames.com today:
[...] Being the customer support " MonteCristo" , we n' let us not have charges management with it with the waiters of plays. To obtain information which you wish, we thus invite you to contact the Customer support of the Waiter of your play. Problem with l' shelterer of the waiters Quazal (http://www.quazal.com/) [...]

Hm, this sounds like a babelfish translation to me (I had to think about "shelterer of the waiters" for quite some time ;) ). Apparently Quazal is hosting multiplayer services for MC's games, but we already knew that (I wrote to them, too, let's see what happens).

I bought this game about 2 months ago. It totally blows to find out that it's considered a thing of the past by the makers of the game.. I would like some online play. Hope things work out.

It is now over a month that the multi-player is dead, and all we've heard from MC was only nonsense, and all we've heard from Q. was nothing at all. Well, then this was definitely the last game I bought from this company (bye-bye "CitiesXL"; I had also preordered a copy of the game which has now been cancelled). While I fully understand that a company is making strategic/financial decisions, I will not accept the fact that we have not even been told about the end of the mp (like the HGL people did). I've never seen such a nasty behaviour in the history of games (even if I tend to exaggerate sometimes). When a company does not care about their paying customers it doesn't deserve my money. Very disappointing ...

I feel the same way brew. I read up on this game and thought it sounded fun 8 player co-op sounded great. So i bought this game from steam which didn't tell me anywhere that this game no longer has multilayer and that's what i bought it for. I never thought i would have to check up on a game to see if the online servers are still up before i bought it. This game isnt that old anyway. GGRRRRR!

That's right, 9 months (for the add-on's mp) just isn't enough. They stopped the mp when it was just about to become interesting.
