Ranged weapons Earth Awakening

Don't laugh- I'm sure this is a totally dumb question, but how do I use ranged weapons (bow,crossbow etc) in Earth Awakening.

I have in my inventory a number of suitable weapons- which don't have a "cross" and while I can carry/wear them, I can't seem to fire them!
I can't get them into the "Left click Action" box in the centre of the screen.

I'm sure there is a really simple answer-HELP!

First, make sure you have a missile weapon equipped on your character's inventory. Then try left clicking on the ranged attack option(it should be #2).
