View Full Version : Triggered "pictures" Walls

Hi all,
Its been some 18 months (i think) since I last posted on here, my last project - Flux although I finished I never completed the video.
Anyhow.
Just a quick question, I have been doing some sketchup cs's and I was just wondering how to go about triggering certain things.
For instance - I have a picture/wall which I want to appear in front of the cars at a certain point in my ride, rather than using a kind of door piece it should be completely hidden from view and then "flash" up in front of the car.
I know I can do this in editing of the movie but it will take the gloss off what I am trying to do.
I have tried the search but I am not really sure of the "search term" to use.
Thanks guys!

Sorry if it doesn't - however this is CS I am making and just wanted a tip on how to make something appear then disappear.
I am still trying to work it out myself.
I do think it is something members will want as things can flash up in front of you for a second or less then disappear.
If my WIP CS shouldn't be in the CS area - sorry again

Dear Mr. Panda, why don't you try to be helpful, and give him a break. You could at least say something like, "Next time, please try to post this in the correct section ;)."
Dear BillyLiar2k7 (http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/member.php?u=296499), all I can think of, is that you should make it like an Animatronic. Then when you hit the part of the track it shoots up. I'm new to this game, and these forums also, I don't know how to make an Animatronic, but its possible obviously. :P

Billy, this does belong here but you need to show us the pictures first before we can sorted your problem out for you.

Well, it would be a triggered ride event if you want it to happen at an exact pre-set point I think.
But I'm not sure how you would work it other than as a door...sorry I don't know much about ride events.
Otherwise I'd suggest an animated alpha texture...but that would just cycle on and off continuously and isn't tied to a ride car going past.

actually I think this already exists It is in ImagineerJohn's Animated Tubes And Billboards set.

You can make a billboard and animate it so it moves from out-of-sight to in-view within 1/30th of a second (1 frame of video). That should do the trick. Then create it as a ride event and import.

Where should it go then?
I agree with vodhin ^
A ride event would work

Thanks jharwood, I am going to use Imagineer John's for the moment just as a placement for the event. I am still working on the animation of my version.
No offense taken Mr Panda, you are partly right as it is really a "how to" rather than a WIP as gavt1976 I have supplied no pics.
As soon as I have "nailed it" I will.
Thanks to all who have taken time to comment.
