My first CS set has now been released.
Cube Base is now finished:

DOWNLOAD LINKS:

1: all files are in one directory --- http://www.2shared.com/file/5142324/da18b5ac/combinedzip1.html

2: POWER, WALL, and DOOR cubes have their own directories --- http://www.2shared.com/file/5142370/a00285f0/seperatezip1.html

Both are in .ZIP form.

----------------=original=------------------

finally i got my converter to work, and now I can show you the first object I made. Please not, this is the first one, and it isn't finished, it still needs alittle help. Here are 2 ss in-game:

3 parts to create it, in order of left to right, 1-3, then all combined.
http://xxlimg.com/images/zv98xe8m2zkd115i7rv4.png

on the left, normal combined cube, on right, normal combined cube with another cube on top of it.
http://xxlimg.com/images/ldn7q687c2ccw5vbyzlq.png

so:
1;how do i combine ll the 3 parts into one object?
2; what else should i do to make it better?

note: this was going to be a power junction for a wall set i plan on making.

Very nice for your first:up: I always have the same problem with getting all 3 objects into one since I can't get the multiple textures on one object to work...

I dont think you should combine them, keep them seperate and let the people do as they wish, more options..
On the CS side, you need to drop the segments on the circles at least it looks, less faces the better. might want to make the textures seamless, one doesnt look right, maybe reposition it..im not downing you..just helping, but you got the concept. Just play around with the alignment of textures and the models.
I.E multi textures. there is a tutorial on that. If you need help I will help tho..Some tutorials are "vague"

thank you for your replie, and actually, the textures are seamless, look at this ss:

also, here is one of the wall sections for it, same positioning as above post:

complete set is now:

But you could (if you wanted) position the texture better on the ends of the walls, look at the end, its half cut, the squares, all you would have to do is more the texture over and make it meet square. Just a idea. but yeah it dose look good.
You still could lower the segments on the circles, they dont need to be that circular the game renders less just as good, and keeps lag down.

1: it doesn't lag at all on my computer, even if i have 400 of these! (exaggeration, i had about 34 at one time, 34X2=68, so 68 objects)

2: "lower the segments on the circles" idk what you mean?

=samous

note: last post for the day, so i won't be posting for a while.

EDIT: also, how do i re-position the textures, in sketch up it positions it for you.

When you make a circle in sketchup I guess your using sketchup if not then i dont know. but in sketchup, as soon as you make a circle or arc, you need to right click the circle/arc and goto entity info, and you will see segments on a circle it will say 24, lower it to like half or something, will look a lil boxy but RCT3 wont pay attention to it, you can also smooth them too.

EDIT: position textures, when you place the texture, you can get the " move" button and right click the texture, and towards the bottom of the list you will see texture position. then it will pull up a hologram of the seamless tiled texture and you can place it how you want it.

EDIT: To smooth an object you will select the whole object, and goto "window" drop down menu, and then select "smooth edges" and you can select the smoothness you want.

this was going to be a power junction for a wall set i plan on making.

@BJK: what do you think?

@Viscosity086: thank you, here is my current progress:

Wall Cube:
Unchanged - No plans

Power Cuber:
Unchanged - Plan on editing the circles

Door Cube *NEW* :

I would re-import everything with double sided textures. This will make it a whole lot easier to use since you will not have to see nothing when you look the wrong way.

Can you still not get the textures to group together as one ?

TPM INC

/\ As long as you have one side of the texture grouped you may click the single sided slab and make it double sided (This is when you put your static model as a .ovl). It is pretty easy and it helps with alphas and other stuff. I use it all the time on my models.

don't feel as if i need 2.
also, the models are supposed to be separate, especially the door, b\c u can either keep or loose the door for an open or closed entrance.

When i combine all the sets --doing so now-- i will double sidded texture it.

EDIT:

Wow pretty good.

thanks, first try :)

^For uploading, try Filefront, Megaupload or Rapidshare. We recommend avoiding Rapid****.
@BJK: what do you think?
Some kind of block thing with a neat texture; Does it serve as a support for tracked rides? http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/images/icons/addonicons/icon26.gif

EDIT: Oh, that kind of base! :noob:

You should not use a doublesided setting on an object that is not supposed to be seen from its "inside" - reason: while there are no additional polygons, the in-game rendering still has to map the texture twice and create it's clipping map twice- almost as bad as having twice as many faces as it needs to have.

It would be better figure out what is happening to the model and fix it so it is modeled correctly, and any more that you make, too.

Using the doublesided setting to fix your problem is - in my opinion- not the way to go.

samous, the download link no longer works. I can get it added to the custom scenery list as soon as there is a working download again. Also, don't send e-mails, I'll get sets put up when I can.
