View Full Version : Disabling shadows?

I hate to post a thread for this, but I searched, and couldn't find any answer to my problem.
I'm currently working on a cs set, and can't seem to disable shadows for the piece I'm working on. Even after checking the "disable shadows" box in the importer, the piece still produces a shadow in the game. I've messed with all sorts of settings to try to fix it, but I can't seem to figure it out. Is there a certain flag that I'm supposed to check that I'm missing, or something? I'm sure it's going to turn out to be something very obvious...
Thanks

that is the only place you need to check. My guess is that you are not getting the newly created OVL into the game and are still seeing the old one (remember to manually delete the old install before installing a new one, just to be sure) and if you have renamed the OVL you'll need to select the new one in the SID settings window- those are the only thing I can think of that will cause your problem.

which importer versien do you use? Some older ones had such issues, but the current one shouldn't. otoh, the issues were visible in the importer (the check mark disappeared).

My importer is 17.2. I knew that it was outdated, but never knew their were bugs in it, so I never really updated. Thanks, I'll update it and see if it works.
Does this mean I will have to recreate all ovl's that had the shadow problem?

you shouldn't have to since it is an older version.

Okay, so I got the new importer (18b2) and I'm still having this problem. I remade all the ovls, and deleted the old ones, but still no luck. The pieces have a large alpha in them that is not supposed to be seen, so having it create a shadow is sort of a problem. any ideas?
I also noticed that in this importer, when setting up texture styles, there is no longer a DS option. Is it supposed to be like that?

you may not be able to prevent shadows from objects that use alpha... it might be limit of RCT3.. I'll have to look again...

Alright, I guess I will just work on other cs pieces instead then.. Thanks for the help.

Yes, these were never intended for scenery.
