This park has been fairly active over at Shyguy's, but due to my continued work and progress so far, I feel that it is time for me to post the park here as well.
Essentially, this park is my exploration of the western theme, and an attempt at making a more sophisticated version of Disney's Frontierland.

The park started out based around a rather large coaster, entitled Bandit.

Here's an overview of the ride itself, one of my favorite creations thus far.

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k224/lost_sense/Borderlands/Shot0568-2-1.jpg

For a more in-depth look, here are some close-ups of sections of the ride.
I ask you to keep in mind that some of these shots were taken as updates for the thread over at SW, so the ride may be unfinished in some of them.

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k224/lost_sense/Borderlands/Shot0564.jpg

Please ignore the black boxes on the waterfall... I forgot to close the scenery window before using the David Walsh cheat... oops

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k224/lost_sense/Shot0556.jpg

------------------------------------------------------------

Today, I went in and began work on the flat rides and such that will also make up the park.

Here's an example of one such ride,

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k224/lost_sense/Borderlands/Shot0569.jpg

There is also another ride in the works. As of right now, it is planned to be a launch tower, though that may change should I find a better alternative.
I plan to theme this section in a fashion more like the Grand Canyon.

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k224/lost_sense/Borderlands/Shot0572.jpg

I will leave you all with an overview of the park so far,

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k224/lost_sense/Borderlands/Shot0573.jpg

------------------------------------------------------------

Stay tuned for more. There is a POV in the works. I'm currently in the process of looking over the ride for little inadequacies, such as a cactus that seemed to intersect the track ;]

I hope that you guys like what you have seen, it is by far one of my favorite parks. Feel free to comment and critique as I look forward to both.

Well, you're definitely one of my favorite park designers. Awesome park so far, really looking forward to a POV.

Thanks for the comments guys. I've been maximizing the work time on this park, since it's spring break for me.

I Went back in and decided to continue more on the Frontierland aspect of the park. Long story short, I added a log flume.
Unfortunately, it's not a very exciting ride... but that's mainly because I built the ride based on an ideal facade as opposed to POV...

Here are the early shots of this new project.

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k224/lost_sense/Borderlands/Shot0575.jpg

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k224/lost_sense/Borderlands/Shot0574.jpg

As of right now, I'm contemplating theming this as a sort of lumber mill.

Keep in mind that this is only about 45 minutes into construction, but I would like to get some input before I get too much further.

How would you like to see the ride developed? Any advice for theming?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would like to see some of the log flume indoors because it would look good and so far i do like it.

Off Topic: Can you tell me if you have still got Egyptian Oasis and if so could i download it please.

LostThought15
04-03-2009, 12:48 PM
let me check if the original download is still working... if not, I'll re-upload it for you.

edit:

yup, still works. Apparently Filefront is under new management and is no longer closing. =]

Thanks mate, i did pm you about it before, but i did not hear back from you because i thought you did not have it, plus did you used any CS and if so can you tell what it is please.

hmm... for some reason I don't recall that message and it's not in my inbox.

I am posting Egyptian Oasis Water Park in the DUMP, please check there for the file, which will include a read me listing the CS used.
The new file is being uploaded at Vodhin's.
Thank you for your interest and support.

I like the theme a whole lot. Great idea with the building in the center of everything. The log Flume looks great so far as well. I suggest a lumber mill. I love how those turn out. Keep doing what you're doing, it looks great.

Never been a fan of western parks as they always seem to turn out somewhat cheesy but this is something else. I love the realism factor given with the facade type buildings and it's nice to see you'v added enough foliage to stop it getting monotonous. That set all too often spoils parks through misuse.

Look forward to watching it grow. :)

Thanks for the comments guys.

Here's a small update on the log flume as I've added more to the structure.

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k224/lost_sense/Borderlands/Shot0580.jpg

-------------------------------------------------

IMPORTANT

In other news... I'm looking for a partner on this project. Basically, I'll need someone to do the video work for me and possibly help out in placing rides in the park.
Due to lag, I'm going to attempt building the rides and what not elsewhere, saving them, and then placing them in the park.

I figure someone will have a much better computer than I do and so theirs will be much better suited for the task.

Since one of the first tasks will involve placing lighting and what not throughout the park, I'll need to see some photo samples of your lighting work if you would like the job.

Please PM me the shots if you're interested.

Thanks guys,

I really like this, but the top lift of the flume seems a little unsupported. I give you 5 stars.

LostThought15
04-04-2009, 05:36 PM
lol... I'm supporting the flume as I work on each section. The main drop will most likely be the next section that I work on.

Doffy
04-04-2009, 05:39 PM
I agree with Dave, this is one of the few western parks that turn out great. The new log flume looks good but the structure around it seems a bit plain to me but i'm sure your not done with that yet either.

LostThought15
04-04-2009, 06:13 PM
Thank you very much Doffy.
My plan with the structure is to get the basics out of the way, then touch it up a bit.
I plan to add a walkway bit as well as a possible control station of sorts... similar to what I did in this shot:

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k224/lost_sense/Shot0535.jpg
[This shot was early construction on Bandit... so much has changed since]

However, this is all tentative since I really don't know how much more I'll be able to get in. Which is fairly sad, since the file is only up to about 6 mb.

Well, lets see. This is looking amazing! I love the western feel youve got going. Too bad you cant support bigger files. A real shame.

LostThought15
04-04-2009, 06:20 PM
Well... I should be getting an alienware computer in honor of my graduation and what not... so that should run much better than the cruddy dell that I'm on now.
Worst comes to worst, should I have to put off this project, I should be able to pick it all back up later.

maskedbandit101
04-04-2009, 06:25 PM
^ Dells aren't bad...it all depends what's inside the Dell, haha. That's what I have, and it runs RCT3...well...usually...without a hitch. It's all about RAM and video card, and you can get whatever you want regardless of who makes your computer.

BTW, I hear Alienware is garbage....uses bad parts and has problems with overheating. ::shrug::

LostThought15
04-04-2009, 06:34 PM
My sister has one... fairly low-end and used, but it runs a lot better than my comp.

MSJ-91
04-04-2009, 07:52 PM
This is looking really great. Bandit is amazing and I can't wait to see what's gonna happen with the logflume.

And by the way, I believe Alienware is owned by Dell, so most of the parts they use are the same.

maskedbandit101
04-04-2009, 11:51 PM
^ Then that would explain why Dell uses poopy parts, too, haha.

Small bit of work put in today. I had to stop though, since I still have some essays and Calculus FRQs to get done since break ends today.
I get the feeling that this will be the last ride I'll get to put in before I have to put this park on hold.
Hopefully, I'll have a new laptop by the end of May, so I'll be able to come back to the park.

And tbh can't be an amazing layout for a flume, its al about theming for me.

Hey guys. Sorry I've been gone so long, but band and school have been taking up a bit more time. Plus, due to lag, I've yet to do any work on the park as of yet.

On the other hand, I did finally get a chance to upload the latest POV on youtube.
This version was shot during nighttime, accompanied by amazing lighting done by MaskedBandit101.

I hope that you enjoy the video as much as I do.

We apologize for the slightly lacking quality, but MB had to decrease quality in order to get the file to a more manageable size.

best western rollercoaster on the forums. I don't need to say anymore..

Edit: You're the first person i've seen who has used that rock set(the more geometric one with the cylinders) and made it look real. Great job!

04-26-2009, 12:37 PM
Wow, all that anticipating really payed off. I really enjoyed the entire ride, and the music really suited the theme of the ride itself. Good job on the roller coaster, and can't wait to see another one.

Thanks but.... FILEFRONT BLOWS! I found the link to Toto2's BMT and pictures too, and it looks great. But going from there to the download results in FILE NOT FOUND. @#$! I then went looking for it at Vodhin's and ShyGuy's (the only places I know to look) and I can't find this dang thing. I even Googled it. NO CAN FIND! @#$!

Can you make this available, please? Upload the zip to Vodhins or somewhere and let me know where to look for it. Please? PRETTY PLEASE!

This is soooooo frustrating!

Tbh, that is my first choice in uploading.

lol. I meant BTM. Is that as bad as RTC?

Then I'll just upload the file there for you.
I already have an account there, and Vodhin must first approve the file.

edit:
For some reason my internet connection won't let me upload the file.
It gets to about 54-60 % and 'encounters an error.'
I've tried about ten times now, it's just not going to work.

Just saw this park for the first time. Lost, I've been impressed with Southshore Swells, but I am more impressed with this. I believe this is the first non-water park I've seen from you and I love it.

Your attention to details in this ride is simply mind blowing. Your supporting for this coaster was top notch. The coaster was completely smooth and my favorite part is the beginning drop out of the station and then launch up the shaft. Simply wonderful! Thank you for sharing.

**Masked, like always, you did a wonderful job on the lighting and video**

LostThought15
11-12-2009, 11:27 AM
haha. My first park was a water park, my current park is a water park... what can I say?

Actually though, I've had two other normal parks.
One was under-water themed, but never really got past it's first coaster.
The other was an Ancient Ruin/Myan theme. It had a pretty good deal of work...
Those, however, were posted over at SW.

This park is due for a serious makeover.
Sometime in the near future. This is one of my favorite projects, but it was still rather early in my development as a designer. I've learned some things I'd like to incorporate in the redesign. :)
