View Full Version : I get floaters

No not like that:weird:...It's just that sometimes when I am building, I'll be laying down a sidewalk, for example, and the tiles are all laying on the ground, then I get to one or two that want to float and I have to use the shift and put then down on the ground. Another thing is that maybe I've built, say a parking lot, without having to put any tiles down, like above, but after I save and quit, the next time I open the park sometimes a tile or two or maybe a bus is floating. What in the Wide World of Sports is causing this?:dbz3_7:

Did you terraform the land or anything? Some objects will float (not pressing shift) if a [grid] square of land isn't completely flat.

Yes, i think I did, but then put it back flat. Ok I can see it doing that if it isn't flat, but why would it jump up if I didn't have to put it down when I built it? And why would a bus jump up, but not the tile under it?

That may depend on the dimensions of the bus model and the tile model under it. It also might depend on the flags used in the importer when the piece was created. some flags control the way an object behaves with raising of the land. So I believe it all dapends on how the piece was made and imported.
I think the best thing to do is use the level tool in the terraforming and level the land (use the one that levels the land to ride and path increments) under the pieces affected. and then replace the pieces if necessary.
If anyone else has an opinion feel free to say so. :)

Thanks for your input tnstickboy70 & pcwfreak. I guess I need to be more careful about terrain shaping.
I did what you said about deleting the tile, flattening the terrain again, then reapplying the tile. We'll see if that helps.

it won't. it will always do that once its been terraformed

Well, maybe it always happens sometimes.;)
I repaired the tiles I was having trouble with and I've started the game 5 different times now and the tiles have stayed put. Maybe it depends on how well you reflatten.
