Particle Effects

Hi, is there anybody out there who can explain to me the process of making new particle effects?Do you make then in the fireworks editor?

Far as I know you use the effects in the importer, and adjust them on the XYZ to make them appear different. I am not sure on totally custom effect's..

See, what im trying to do is make a ring that expands from the emitter, one vertical one diagonal and one horizontal but i cant figure it out in the AFE
