Copy/Pasting Common/Unique ovl's

(This has to do with CS, so this might belong in that forum, but it's a technical thing so I'm putting it here)

I downloaded M&P Coal Mine set, but it didn't have the style.common.ovl or style.unique.ovl files, so I copy/pasted them from another CS file. Will the set work, even with copied files?

Doubt it.
Please remove the "HELP" from sig, it's putting you over size.
Tech is for game install and related system issues. CS is fan made, and used at own risk.

I dont think it would but im pretty sure each style.common.ovl and style.unique.ovl are for catorgirezing your sets. Like if it belongs in western and in the importer you set wester the the styles would be set for western

So the Coal Mine will just appear under a different tab? (that's assuming it does work)

No it shouldnt work because isnside that stlye.common.ovl is the sets name in it like in the importer when your editing location in scenery folder thats where it would be in the style.common.ovl

No way it works, like Mr.Panda said those files say where the game can find all the objects, and if you copy one of those files in another map I think it'll show that set twice in the game, the files still mention to the set where it came from.
So the game doesn't even know that your files are there..

I could be wrong about the double set thing but I'm sure that it won't work ;)

Alright, so this was a foolish thread :deletes M&P Coal Mine:
Speaking of double sets, Shyguy's Main Street 3 shows up twice in my toolbar, but I only have one copy of it :confused:

I think I have an idea as to why
Inside of the folder with the models in the set, I found this folder:

It has all the models that you see in the pic. I think it doesn't belong there.

Yep, double set, in a set.. That would be the most likely answer.

PS - do you know where I can get patches/updates for the game?

I would suspect the google for it, probley found on any game site.
Or possibly Frontier?>

Go to the RCT3 General Discussion section ( http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=342), at the top of the page is a stickied thread labeled "Tnstalling RCT3 and ALL Patches". Thise are the official patches and the instructions. No need to Google nor get them from some other site.

Oh. and I think the reason the patches you showed me don't work because I have Platinum, and those were for the regular RCT3.

I just did some research, there are NO platinum patches
