I need memory card help.

Yesterday, I got Final Fantasy VIII for the PS1. I have a PS2, and a PS1 memory card. When I tried to acces the PS1 memory card, it says that it isnt formated and I lost all the progress on the game. When I try to format it, it says that the formatting failed. Do any of you know why this would happen?

As far as I know, I don't think PS1 memory cards work on the PS2, Although I am not entirely sure as I never purchased a PS1 memory card for my PS2.

^They're supposed to. I've had at least 4 other PS1 games, and they all saved fine, but now there's a problem.

That happened to me with a PS2 memory card with a PS2 game. I believe the problem is perhaps on the CD, or there is not enough space on the memory card (which I doubt)

^The problem is that I cant access the memory card to do anything with it. I cant save to it or enter it to clear data. There's no problem with the game.

It seems to me that your card has died out. Time for a new one if you can find it.

Wait, is your memory card an official one or third party? Also do you have a slim or phat PS2?

^it is official, and I have a slim ps2.
