I have looked around these fourms cant find that many trash bins, so, I decided to try and make some.
This is one on my first sets. I have been plaing around with the importer and have come up with these. I am still work on textures for these so what you see might change. I am also trying to make some spots recolorable, but I am having some problems with it... can anyone help me?
I have 4 right now that I can show you.

Well, what do you think?
What can I improve on?
If there is a trash bin that you think you would want, post a picture of it in here and I might make it.
~Joe
P.S. Can anyone help me on that recolorable problem I have that I said in the first paragraph?

I think you should make it so the last one is recolorable, not just the slot. Other than that, looking good. Oh, maybe some fast food restaurant looking bins.

That looks nice! Could you make one that looks like a keg? Like the third one but more bowed out and such. Here is a pic:

Hey, great job with these!
One of the main things you need to watch out for is how many segments your arcs have. After making them, right-click the arc and choose "Entity Info." A little box should pop up with some entries, lower the segment number to around three or two for the relatively small curves on these pieces.
To smooth an edge, use the eraser tool and hold control. This will help create the illusion there are more segments than there really are.
For re-colorability, Vodhin and surfingoz have some great tutorials. Could you also include, as a novelty, those syringe desposable boxes, or sharp items disposal?

A suggestion on the bins; make it look like there's a trash bag in there. Instead of having a circular opening revealing the interior of the model, just put a black circle on top and delete the interior faces; it will save far more this way, and if you use the right texture for the bag, look pretty convincing. Also, how many faces are we looking at for the round parts there?

Thanks, if you look at the picture again, you will see that it is recolorable now.

I am focusing this set only on pathway trash cans.
These trash bins look amazing joe, i really like them a lot.

Could you also include, as a novelty, those syringe desposable boxes, or sharp items disposal?
Thanks, but I am just keeping this set to pathway trash bins.
Man , you know how to do everthing in RCT3! These look great! Will they be use-able by the peeps?
Haha, thanks. Yes, these trash cans are fully functional for the peeps to use.

I understand what you mean. I will play around with that idea.

The first one with a logo would be amazing. I've been looking for a logo trash can for ages.

Yeah, how about one with a billboard area on the front. Is that possible to achieve with a trash can? Also, you could include a texture map thing so we can make our logos round and still match up. Know what I mean?

Whoa... I think you need to re-think your trash bins... a mere 10 of those lowest poly count ones would add up to 2400... and you'e be hard pressed to actually enjoy all the detail of more than one when placed normally...

The game definitely needed more trash bins. Thank you very much for taking on this task. Keep up the excellent modeling work, we all appreciate it.
Here's another generic bin that would be a nice addition to the game.

Update 3
Im not releasing yet in the is post, but wanted to explain a few things.
The reason that I am releasing this version right now is cause I have lost the sketchup files to these 4 bins. I want to get it out before I somehow lose the RCT3 files of them (knowing me). Once the me and beta group fix all the bugs, I will release this. I am already working on V.2 of the set, so hopefully you can see more to come.
Other than this set, I have another little set that I might release/show soon.
Thanks
~Joe
