View Full Version : [REL] Moby's Construction Vehicles - RELEASED! (7/10)

Moby
06-25-2009, 10:42 AM
Well it has been some time since my last thread in this forum, but that time has come once again.

I'm proud to bring you this set of construction objects, which are mostly different parts / positions for a heavy duty truck-mounted crane.
Many of you will have seen these cranes and trucks already in my ePark (http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?p=11132324#post11132324) thread, if you've not go check it out there are plenty of pics of this set.

All objects have a diagonal version
All objects are quarter-tile placement
All objects are recolourable (except the cable)

DOWNLOAD (http://www.meganaut.com/mcv.html)

Here's the list of objects and icons;

http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/8233/mcvmenu.jpg

I was going to include more vehicles, namely an alternative crane purely for raising the man-basket to the right height, but these objects do take a long time and i'm not sure that another crane is really needed. So i'm announcing this set now, with the aim to release v1 similar to how it is now. Any more new objects will arrive in v2.

This set is near completion (release), there's just a few minor points to check. Across the crane is the LIEBHERR logo, with a nice transparent background. I was thinking about replacing them with a billboard so peeps can customise it. However i'm now thinking it looks good as it is, and may leave it there as a tribute to the German community that have been so creative and professional with the game and this forum. Liebherr is a long standing, world leader in heavy duty construction machinery. Please give me your thoughts.

Here's some pics from the thread:

Hey, I'm very glad you decided to let share this with the rest of us. You do such a great job, I, and evryone else, truly appreciates it!
Also, for an idea, what about a truck with a wider trailer? For use as an 'oversized load' carrier.

How wide do you mean? Do you have a pic? The current truck is about 1.2 game tiles wide.

Now this is a great idea carried out just right (maybe a bit high poly, but still should work well ;) )

06-26-2009, 01:40 AM
^^^You're welcome. I'd just ask for a trailer wide enough for the track to not be on the edge but closer to the middle. Approximately 2 tiles, I suppose. Maybe have a 1 tile wide with the track in the dead center as well as a 2 tile wide with room for 2 centered tracks. Also, maybe lower it a little bit so the track is 'on' the trailer, not 'in' it. Just my suggestions. Thanks!

Thank you so much for deciding to release this! These are amazing!

^Those would be very nice. Mainly the footer drill.I do have a suggestion. I would like to see containers like you would see on a normal truck. Open from the top and closed(These also fit the truck.). These would help a lot.

I LOVE that idea. Any cement mixer. I wouldn't care if it wasn't aniamted. Also, I'm glad that everyone is 'behaving' and making simple requests instead of posting stuff like this:
"OMG! THIS IS AMAZING!!!!!11!!! WHERE IS TEH DOWNLOAD!!!! I NEED IT NOW!!!!1"

Thanks for the support everyone.

For those requests, I'm not really taking requests for this set, unless it applies to the already existing objects.

Right now i'm just not overly happy with the appearance of some of the larger metal polygons in the crane, and i want to see if they can be improved. That's really the only thing holding me back from releasing this set. The second last pic in the first post shows what i mean.

@luke - thanks.

for the crane thing, why dont you make two?

one with a billboard and with the sign

Can you publish beta versions ? We will give feedback.

I have a question, can you not apply space contraints; for insert objects on route for eg.

{Freak}Rct3
07-05-2009, 04:41 PM
so i can't seem to find the appearence issues you are talking about. can you point them out so i can also think of something :P?

~CJ

MagicMan
07-05-2009, 05:49 PM
Well if you look at the crane links they look almost like the Klinn Framework things. He's talking about something more metal looking.

EDIT: In my opinion Moby they are pretty much near real as you can get. Are they recolorable? If so then I think they are just fine.

Only thing that could make them look more real is more depth. LIke they have in this one. Which means more poly's most likely.

gamer2456
07-05-2009, 06:37 PM
Moby are the wheel a circle face or texture mean like do for alpha sandwich and If the are A face try changes them to alpha texture. By Making alpha sandwich texture save on poly count A lot time find when circle faced wheel even if you lower them as far as you can there still going make a lot of poly.

You need to be patient, rushing him will just mean the end product will be unfinished. It will be done when it's done.

godsmuffinman

Yeah, if you 'really really need this set' then make it on your own. Moby's doing this for free so theres no need to rush him.
