Well, we've done guess the coaster, park, Disney park, Intamin, B&M...

Let's try something different. I'm posting three pics of amusement park rides. (The initial set is coasters, but it doesn't have to be... could be water rides or buildings, for example.) Each of the pictures shares something in common with the other two pictures. Your job is to name what is shown in each picture, and then guess what the common theme of all three pictures is. Once the game is going and everyone is used to the rules, the next winner will get to post a new set with a new theme. In the event the game is too difficult to guess, I'll start posting hints. In the event two days have passed and everyone has given up, I'll reveal the correct answer and post a new set/theme. Sound fun?

Here's the rules.

Theming Rules:
1) The theme CANNOT be: All steel, all wood, all on the same continent, all from the same manufacturer, all from the same state, all from the same park, all of the same type, (standup, sitdown, inverted, etc.) or "I've ridden these coasters." These themes are just too broad or specific and would make the game either short or boring.
2) The theme cannot relate to the pictures themselves, such as: they all contain x amount of pixels, they're all shot tagged, they're all mirrored shots. This game is about the rides and attractions being pictured, not what's on your computer screen.
3) You cannot use a previously used theme for your theme. Come up with something original.
4) The theme must be reasonable: No "They all weight the same amount, they all have the same number of bolts, they're all made of elderglass, etc." The average poster should be able to realize how the theme relates to all the things pictured, and should not require exacting specific esoteric data.

Picture Rules
1) Post three pictures only, all sharing the common theme, following Atari forum guidelines.
2) Pics cannot be color changed, tinting, very small, very large... no alterations done to the pics themselves except for reasonable cropping. (I don't want a magnifing glass in order to play this game!) You may remove obvious hints, such as names, but no gross alterations.
3) Objects can be of any commonly seen structure or ride... parade floats are ok, portable rides that were up for a week at your local fair are not.
4) All three pictures must be in the same post.

Posting/Guessing Rules
1) Each of your posts is limited to one guess per picture and one guess for the theme. Guesses in excess of this amount will be ignored. You cannot guess three times about one picture and count that as your three guesses... one guess for each picture.
2) No double posting!
3) Earliest posted correct set of guesses is declared winner. Because the overall goal is the theme, only the person who posted the last set can authorize someone else to post a new set! (I am excepting myself, so I can moderate the thread.)
4) Don't be a jerk. This is about having fun, not ticking people off.

I think that sums up the rules. If I think of any other rules to be added, I'll post the new rule and update this starting post.

So... here... we... go!

I'll try to work out the theme from there...

1.Corkscrew at Playland/Final Destination 3
2.The Hulk at IOA/House on Haunted Hill
3.Revolution at SFMM/Rollercoaster

*Ding**Ding**Ding* We Have a Winner!

Alpengeist, you're quite correct. That was the theme... they were all used in a motion picture. If I could have found more coasters that were featured in movies as themselves, (such as Revolution) I would have used them instead. And for a bit of personal trivia... my wife is one of the extras riding Hulk in House on Haunted Hill.

Heth, you've got the idea of the thread... wrong theme, and wrong 1st picture, but you've got the idea. That would make a good theme to use. *files away idea for later use.*

LoveTulie, I just noticed... they do all have white supports. Wasn't what I was going for, but that would have worked as well.

Remember, everyone, the main goal is to guess the theme... the things pictured are secondary.

Alpie, you got an idea, or do you want me to post another set?

Once it gets rolling, it shouldn't. The hard part is thinking up themes... and be aware, people do have jobs. Real life does intrude.

However, I am able to put up a new theme.... so, once again, here we go.
