I'd seen this a while ago, and a friend of mine just brought it up again on Facebook... thought I'd share it here. Not sure I'd have the guts to do this thing. The dropping start doesn't look like something I'd enjoy all that much.

That looks cool, but I would never go on that, imagine if you get stuck...

How do you get the water to go around the loop and make it a slick ride? I'd have absolutely no reservations about doing this, looks awesome! Especially the start.
Oh, and random, you couldnt really get stuck...if you got to the top and didn't have enough momentum (which looks impropable considering the speed at which the people were traveling) you could just scooch along until you start going down again. :)

This wasn't the first one... and it's not a real loop. Now THIS is a looping waterslide:

I think it looks like it would be fun (although probably provides an instant super-wedgie). The start reminds me of old Laugh-In shows, where members of the cast would often be dropped through a trap door in the stage.
I would be a bit concerned about getting stuck, but not in the way mentioned in previous posts. What if you didn't quite make it to the top, and wound up sliding back into the trough between the initial drop and the loop? I would like to think there's some form of "trap door" that could get a person out of there. But, I suspect it would have to be quick. Otherwise, there would be a risk that the stopped person could cause a disruption in the water flow, leading to rising water levels in the trough, which could lead to a drowning opportunity. So, if there's an "emergency exit" that can be quickly opened at the low point before the loop, then I think I'd be willing to give it a try.

Dammit! Posted it before me.
But yes, Action Park did have a looping waterslide (along with a bunch of other painful and dangerous contraptions) before closing and reforming itself as Mountain Creek Water Park in the late 90's.

I'd rather try and experience the one at Action Park, it's crazy!

Well, Action Park was a death park anyway. It looks like someting a RCT3 n00b would make. Waterslides with jumps, a "tarzan swing" off a cliff into cold water, looping waterslide...
(by the way, a looping waterlide is possible in RCT3. Doesn't look amazing, but it works)

Probably why a contraption like this will never make it to the US; too many regulations to pass/fatter, less areodynamic people to get stuck, etc.

Action Park was in the US, and they had Cannonball Loop...

That looks scary. The one in action park looks more like a loop - but this one looks like a massive incline loop. That drop start looks weird too - isn't there a vertical one like that, really tall somewhere?
That action park looks..deadly? :P

That would make sense, although I'm not entirely sure about the scooching part, depending on how steep it is, hard to tell unless you are actually in it.

I remember a thread on another site about the imfamous looping slide at Action Park. Apperantly it was very painful to ride. I think somebody even said that you had to be hosed down before riding so that you wouldn't stall in the loop :eek-blue:. Not suprisingly, the park had a lot of safety problems (and not just from that slide), resulting in its demise.
i know of action park!
the most deadly ride though, was the tidal wave pool, 3 people drowned in it, sad?
and about the over flow idea, they can just swim up!

You know Grav,
The weirdest thing is that I am pretty much fearless at water parks but a sissy at theme parks.
Haha.
I actually want to go there alot now!!
But since there's to many speedos there....(Stranger Danger) haha, I don't know if I do anymore!
