Flight of Fear: FoF's trims are a joke. It's totally unnecessary. A complete stop? Really? Although, on the bright side, it does allow you to hear, like, five seconds of the music.
Now this does justice to FOF's trims. Almost five seconds stopped!

Now this is how FOF should run:

Diamondback: Airtime. 'Nuff said.
The Beast: I hate how it just kind of cruises through the tunnel this year.
The Racer: Totally unnecessary. Again.
Son of Beast: It's rough anyway. If anyone's neck was going to snap, it already would have by that point in the ride.
Fairly Odd Coaster: Trims. ON A KIDDIE COASTER. Really?!
Vortex: While I wouldn't like to see the trims totally off, turning them down a bit would be nice.
Timber Wolf (Worlds of Fun): Amazing ride with the trims off. Boring ride with the trims on. 'Nuff said.
Mamba (Worlds of Fun): The bunny hops are horrible with the trims on.

I heard that Goliath at La Ronde second half gets completly ruined by trims. Lots of Hyper coaster would probably be better without trims.

Comet- Really? What could be an awsome airtime filled ending is ruined by the trims! The ride had run fine with out them for 60+ years! And the park already has a smallish coaster, there was no reason to tame a great one!
Sooperdooperlooper- Trims were added 2 years ago and what was a awsome lateral filled ending was ruined. However the first half of the ride remains trim free!
Nitro- Now, this could have been a great ending! But the ending was just ok cause of the MCBR almost stopping the thing!
Well thats all I really have to complain about right now...

^ Toatally agree on that, you would get so much more air without them. I do love the ride though.

It's been a while since I've seen someone manage to sneak a camera on. Too bad nobody seems to have ever thought of taking a POV with the lights on. :P

I think Viper in Six Flags Magic Mountain has by far the worst trims!

I tend to be irked the most by trims on Wild Mouse-style coasters. I've been on some that just brutally trim the daylights out of the entire ride, making it just a glorified kiddy coaster.
On my trips to Hersheypark, I've been impressed with their Wild Mouse operation, and the lack of trimming they do on it. I hope they keep it up, and I would like to see more parks follow suit!

FoF trims suck. same with mamba and timberwolf (my home park!) also, they say the trims only happen on diamondback when it is going to fast, but i have ridden it 6 times and the trims happened everytime!

I thought Mean Streak looked awesome when I was at Cedar Point but it sucked because it had like 5 trim brakes on the first drop. It felt like it was 40 ft. :p

Not that I've been on it yet obviously, but I was at Universal Florida when HRRR was testing and the trims on that thing look nasty.

I actually rode Magnum trimless for the first time this summer. Holy ****, it hurt my legs like no other. It was really ****in fun, but my legs were bruised for days.

What trims?

Well, riding Diamondback, I'd have to say the trims after the turnaround. They aren't that bad, you still get airtime on that hill... meh.
EDIT: Cedar, how did that hurt your legs? Were you in the 3rd row? :p

Front. I can't even imagine what it would've been in like in the 3rd row. :p

Hmm.. odd.
Haha I always sit in the last car (first row though) and it's always just lovely! I've learned the hard way about that wretched 3rd row :down:

Really? I thought the ending was heaven.
My humps, my humps, my humps my humps my humps. Nitro's lovely airtime lumps.

Trims are just awful and take a lot off a good ride. If they're afraid of an overspeed, why is the ride built so that it's prone to overspeeds?
Wild 1
08-08-2009, 09:00 PM
^^ I don't know why but I guess that day the MCBR was just taking off more speed then normal. It looked like it was going to be awsome while we were going up the lift, but then the MCBR almost stopped us!

Mine is one on a rollercoaster at the local park , at the top of an 'airtime' hill , there is a trim which is so painfull , and I don't think that they even needed it that much.
