It is strange.
Dubai is in the middle east, a place americans repulse in hate in (im american too, im just talking 3rd person), and their building a multi theme park resort.

Everyone has there own opinion but just because Dubai is in the middle east doesn't mean it's in Iraq or it's prone to bombing. Dubai is a very cool vaction destination, I personally would love to go.

- I have muslem friends from school, and such opinions, or whatever it is, offends me. How in the world do people expect them to integrate and open up from their culture, when they constantly get harassed for their religion and recieve a general unwelcome, stereotypical tone, towards them? Snoo said it pretty straight, we're all people, all equal. I could care less about country borders, and who is 'allowed' to live where.

I would love to go to Dubai. However, the American government and media has told us that it's really not safe to go anywhere, since everyone hates us. That and the price of a passport has increased 10-fold. Hell, I can't even go to Canada without paying out the butt and I'm in the 'special' state of Michigan where we were promised we could still go with our driver's licenses. Yeah, the one that costs nearly as much as a passport (compared to the usual $13 one).
I can understand where people get these stereotypical ideas when it seems we're being told to stay home.

I think Dubai is a great cosmopolitan and I really want to go there. Remember it's in the U.A.E. and not in Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, or Pakistan.

I've been there myself, and what's so bad about it? I wasn't blown up on a bus, nor hiding underground from bombs for days. It's a great place, and it's excellent that the amusement industry is heading in a more global direction of park placement.
Imagine if you were residents of Dubai. Half of yall wouldn't even be signed up here. :rolleyes:

In response to the OP: IMO, perhaps the UAE should make improving their human rights record a higher priority than building huge resorts for rich tourists.
