Is it just me or does the floor look kind of metallic?

The walls look marble, but there isn't any texture to the floors except for where the web is.

I will admit, I was "very interested" in this game when I first heard about it. Yet the more I read about it and the more pictures like this I see, the more obsessed I am becoming. Do we really have to wait a week and a half for this? Oh, the walkthrough trailer didn't help temper my growing obsession either!

The really cool part, is that the skeletons seem to be summoned/raised and fighting on the party's side. Woot!

I can tell I'm going to want to use Fireball often. Looking at that screenshot that's the first thing I can think of doing.

What spells are active in that image? I can see web. The green glow below the PCs are probably bless (just like in the walkthrough video). But how about the orange thingie and the red glow on monsters? Anyone care to guess?

Perhaps someone who has played the original can answer this. Are the dungeons mostly filled with narrow corridors and small rooms or are there a lot of expansive areas? Or is it a pretty even balance of both?

Red glow could be rage (as in the gameplay movie) - if them bugbears are barbarian, and it looks like a flaming arrow to me?

In my opinion, one of my favorite things is each creature will be restless and animated while it's another avatar's turn. I love this, it is such a relief from games like Jagged Alliance and Fallout Tactics, where everything is static save the guy moving.

Really, bear that in mind and watch a gameplay movie, isn't that a nice addition? Small, but I noticed it right away, it makes the battle seem more lively.

wow whip! where did u pick up this screenie? this is part of the batch i made last week, but i didn't know they had been put up yet. cool deal!

yes, the Skeleton Gnolls are commanded by my Eeeeeevil dwarven cleric!

let me try to narrate what's happening:

Meleny, the highlighted NPC, has just hurled a Produce Flame at one of the bugbears that is webbed. I was unable to snap a screenshot in time, but that set the whole Web on fire, burning those trapped.

the "action bar" is only at yellow right now, signifying that Meleny has just used a standard action (the green portion of the bar) to cast Produce Flame and used the free touch attack to throw the flame at a bugbear.

the PC's currently have at least Bless and Prayer active. the large character currently has Enlarge and probably Bull's Strength active, and also is flatfooted (seen by the "boot" on top of her portrait, she is the left-most along the bottom). along that note, Meleny is currently under Medium Encumbrance (the "bell" looking icon on her portrait, second from the bottom right).

conversely, the Prayer has negatively affected the bugbears. a few of the bugbears may have Barbarian Raged and/or used a Potion of Bull's Strength (that actually happens later in the combat, IIRC).

i initiated combat with the bugbears and the high priest on the far right manually, even though i was currently working on a mission for the high priest; i figured this area might make for some good combat screenshots.

are the rest of my screenies up somewhere? i'm kinda curious, even though i have all of them sitting right here on my hard drive, heh.

hope that was informative!

[edit]: oh yes, that is my monk in the bottom right corner - you can't really see it, but he is in a monk stance; i think i took a few screenies of him kicking and punching and doing twirling kicks. it's hard to show with screenshots though :/

the monk's critical hit anim is pretty sweet, i haven't gotten a critical with my monk, but i've seen others' do it!

my gnome wizard currently has Mirror Image cast upon her; she's right next to Meleny. it's hard to see the ghostly images in this shot, but i took at least 1 or 2 more that more clearly shows the images

First the barrage of new screens, and then the game is shipping early - with the best press release ever. Huy, have you gotten a new job at Atari?

Oh well. The only thing Atari could do that would surprise me any more than releasing it early would be to send me an email telling me they put the game in my mailbox.

doh, a lot of my screenies didn't make it... although i did send like 100 or 150 of 'em...

anyways, i think these shots are at 1024x768x32:

[edit]: wait, this wasn't my screenshot. this might not be at 1024x768. dunno, someone can compare the shots and find out for sure

http://www.tothegame.com/sshotfeat.a...en=1892&pic=37

i don't see the few that were at 1280x1024x32, and unfortunate that they took the last two which had interface covering up the screen, ah well.

the screenie where my big fighter got her critical hit, she immediately Great-Cleaved the rest of the bugbears around her

Good thing that was someone else's wallet.

Some very good screens in there!

Indeed. This just gets better and better.

How can there still be doubters that this will be a great game?

Another cool screenshot

This is the same encounter as what Whip has posted but nearing the end of the battle. I hope the monsters are not this stupid. Of the 8 PCs+NPCs, only one got scathed considering that there are like 10+ bugbears in the room.

And ooohhh, me likey the blood spatter.

What is the purpose of the hostile's
avatars in the top of the screen? Can
you locate/choose/target someone by clicking on the avatar? Is there an option to
supress the avatars?

This is yet another extremely impressive screenshot.

Thank you for explaining the entire fiasco that was going on.

The very fact that you can ignite webs, which I find to be very strategic, is a huge bonus. It really allows those who are lucky enough to come up with that form of creativity to utilize it, and I am always a fan of games that allow for creativity with whatever means have been given (in this case, spells).

And the Juggernaut looks a lot better than the picture in the module.

Heh. Bwhahaha

Though how could it not, really.

Heh.

*snicker*

Sorry.
Admittedly the monster itself is really friggin' scary. Well potentially scary.
