Compatibility: UT2004, Team colors should work in UT2003 but haven't tested.

Description/Comments:

Team skins for Warbeast's Meryl model, and several original skins by yours truly.

There is also a nifty "mix and match" guide (merylmixandmatch.txt, included in this zip) for creating your own variations on Meryl. No Unreal Editor use or knowledge required, just how to use notepad.

The animation file (Meryl.ukx) didn't need to be updated since the default human female animations are used for this model, and thus, Meryl has vehicle animations. She does have some trouble holding the new guns, but that's just a result of the way Epic updated things in UT2004, and is a common problem with custom models. I didn't rework any of the animations, because, frankly, I haven't learned how. Just in case you are wondering, the original textures are in the ukx file, and a new upl is included, (merylremix.upl) pointing to the new textures, so it isn't necessary to replace your current meryl.upl file. (assuming you don't have the beta.)

I cleaned up some spots on the original two skins in 0.3 update. Main areas affected were some ugly seams on the back of both girl's heads, and some irregular black lines on the legs of Meryl_74. Doing this also forced me to go back and rework the team color variants. This is partially why I made Meryl_74's blue hair slightly darker this time, but mainly because I had used a lightened version of Meryl's blue hair on her originally, but after a while, it didn't quite look right to me.

There are also two nice screenshots suitable for wallpapers included.

Wonderful work as always Jefe and of course the screenshots are terrific Buffy. You always bring out the best in any content you take a shot of. Now Jefe how about some more loading screens ... when you can of course ... ... please? (Almost forgot to add that).

I haven't seen him around in a long time.
He is an excellent texture artist, and would like to see more of his work out there.

Y'know I was just mentioning him (and you as well) to the Necris clan. Hmmm I had been thinking the same. I was actually hoping the two of you could team up at some point and come out with some retail quality models that maybe could make you some money. I mean the two of you together ... that's like a friggin Hydrogen bomb!

So did I Buffy ... we do think alike sometimes ... that model was damn cool and had a really cool look. Yeah isn't that one cool pic from Jefe's loading screens (actually more than one)? Boy if EE did the actual model and then Warbeast did the slick texturing we'd have us a spy guy that would really become the standard for future models ... seriously. Me and WarBeast sort-of worked together on one model, 8-Ball.
I just did the rigging mainly, and he did the rest.
I don't mind working with someone like him, but I guess it depends on what the project is.

Was that a model of a really viscious looking jug? I remember the name but vaguely ... if it's who I think it was then man that is a really nice collaboration.

Jefe can I just add this one last thing ... I do have sweet tooth ... I had forgotten and I loved beating on him because he was so large and had flaming heads (Rorder is what I think his species type was). Oh yeah that is exactly who I was thinking of ... had that one as well ... and it was WB and EE how about that ... that's when I was a total and didn't know anyone or really much of anything but downloading all the content I could find. I didn't even know about this place the whole time I was playing UT2K3.

But I don't think there is a quality model that I don't have ... unless of course it was never released to the community or are part of a mod. Thanks for the refresher.

My gaming computer is broken down, so as much as I'd like to do something like that, I can't. I'm working on an old 433 celeron that doesn't even have enough hd space for a UT2004 install, not to mention being way under spec. So it will be a while before I am able to work on anything for UT2004, or heck, even play it. School is also keeping me extremely busy, not to mention tending to my 3 year old son.

But... there is a set I mentioned in the Vol II thread that I haven't officially released or anything, even though I've gotten some great feedback on it. I wasn't really done with it, but incidentally, it is what lead me to start working on these meryl skins. You should recognize a couple of the textures.

That is just awful about your system ... That is it with systems these days? A couple of the guys in the Necris clan lost a bunch of great work and all their stuff when their HDs crashed. That's why I back up at least twice a week to a big removable drive.

And I didn't know you had a little one as well ... yeah I try and spend time with my son even when I am doing this.

Anyway thank you for being understanding about the OT issue and a huge thanks for the extra content. I am going to love it ... I just know it. Good luck with your system but at least now you can rediscover some things you may have gotten away from since you started gaming heavily. Peace.

Yes, somehow people are so reluctant to back up important stuff regularly...which is how great things get lost.

How bad is the breakdown, Jefe? Is it just one component that's broken?

Also, how *do* you manage to both go to school and have a kid? I didn't think it was even possible to combine that, given the time that needs to be invested in both...

That could be pretty cool, but it would be difficult to match up with the rest of the body since the dress parts are a separate texture, and the dress is visibly raised from the body on most of the model. However, I am curious though if Warbeast ever did anything with that Kitty nudeskin he posted a screen of.




Most of the mirrors seem to be working now, and the Filefront mirror is now good to go.


Meryl should be on Skin City by Sept 8th, by the way. She is also on UT200XHQ thanks to Cannon.

Jefe ... last post on this thread for me ... I finished testing robo's mothership and now that is about to become a final I am going to move on ... I will be on Genesis but really that is it. Stay in touch ... you have to if you want that hot technology Soon you will be gaming ... I was getting prices on new motherboards and for now I am just getting an AMD64 3400 ... If I need more power all I have to do from now on is replace the chip. But since I won't be gaming so much I wonder why I am doing this? Just a true PC gaming tech addict.
