Comp keeps restarting during gameplay...

I have just recently purchased UT2004 and installed it on my machine.

I went to play a single player game and my machine restarted shortly into the gameplay. This has happened a few times now and I have never been able to play the game, so I came here for some advice on how to fix this problem.

Thanks in advance.

Check your CPU fan to see that its working. Friend of mine had the same issue and found out his fan broke and the cpu was overheating and cause it to reboot.

I checked the fan and it seems to be running normally.

Read the sticky "Check your CPU+MB+RAM".

Alright, I have read that thread and it has been helpful. I will run the stress test later and see how my system copes. I believe it will cope quite well.

Before I want to think about messing around with RAM, etc, I want to know that I tried everything else that could be a problem. Anymore suggestions?

If you're not overheating, then it probably is your RAM. I could point you to dozens of posts that go something like "but everything else runs great... only UT fails... it can't be my RAM", and then a couple of days later... "I replaced my RAM (or upped the voltage or removed one stick.. whatever) and now I'm not getting any errors". UT has an uncanny abililty to expose memory problems.

Alright, thanks.

I'm kind of a n00b when it comes round to messing with hardware so I kinda didn't want it to come to this.

Anyways...I'll give it a shot.
