"Escape from Atlantis" - My latest video
Well, this is my meager follow-up to "Alice: The Ride." I started this project during the Thanksgiving holiday, but I began to lose interest. However, I had invested so much time into the project that I didn't want to totally abandon it. So, here's the end result of what I certainly wouldn't consider one of my finer works, but, well, there ya go...
(self-deprecating enough?) I'm sure you're just so eager to watch it now... ![]() Watch the video: "Escape from Atlantis" I wanted to somehow use the myth of Atlantis in a theme and began with that. The video ATTEMPTS to tell a short story about escaping from Atlantis as it begins to flood and sink below the sea. I actually used the song before for a woodie that I created in the demo a couple months ago, but I thought I would try to transplant it here for a different context. For much of the video, I created an Atlantis "movie set" to take pre-sunken video footage. However, the sunken buildings from the actual ride were transplanted into this set to give at least a little continuity and consistency. I guess I'm at least pretty happy with the coaster itself (my first try at a pipeline coaster). Here are the stats and a few screenies: The Stats: ![]() An overhead view: ![]() Racing through one of the sunken structures: ![]() Emerging from another sunken structure: ![]() Diving beneath the bridge to the loading station: ![]()

Oh my god.........another Mikeyca masterpiece. We need to get a fan club started for your work, but wait if we did that we would need to start one for Bitter Jeweler as well.
I am amazed at your story tell ability. The Atlantis movie is great. I don't want to hear you belittle it anymore, Mike. Your choice of music fit well. You are the Story Teller Movie Maker Of RCT3 just as Bitter Jeweler is the Music Video Maker OF RCT3. As long as you guys keep making these movies I will keep watching in amazement. |

Wow!
That's a very impressive video. I'm curious to know how well that park ran on your computer with all that scenery.

Between you and Bitter Jewler, I couldn't pick a winner, you guys should be named Spielberg or Lucas when it comes to vid's of RCT 3 !
I posted the link to the movie AN too this thread on MTTM, hope ya don't mind.

Wow Mike!
I quite admire your work. Please, do yourself a favor and edit out (mediocre) in the posts subject ,PLEASE! You have a very cinematic eye, and ear for that matter. While watching the video, I couldn't help thinking it was very reminiscent of the "Myst" game series. Very nice timing of the music. Great coaster, and excellent "set" work. Just Beautiful! I can't wait to see what you do next. David Oh andSkipper, Quote:

Like that, huh? Stems from one of the Micro posts regarding someone wanting to track all inventory costs, deliveries, usage, etc.

Wow...thanks everyone for the positive and encouraging words. Like I said, I really didn't feel too confident about posting this one because I didn't personally feel that strongly about the final video.

Pentium 4 3.0GHz + HT 1GB SDRAM PCI-Express 128MB ATI Radeon x800 SE To be honest, there really isn't THAT much scenery. I've found that the types of things that really slow down the game are a lot of LIGHTS. So, I minimized on the use of lights in the park, and things seem to be going smoothly so far with about only about 400 peeps in the park.

lights and transparent glass mostly...reflective water doesnt help too much either.
but enough about that. your vids, along with bitter's make me want to strive harder and make better rides, more scenery, a storyline, or just something really damn cool! as i saw your vid and your coaster, especially this one, i got ideas on taking that idea, and tweaking it a bit, or making a ride based on a complex city structure, and weaving the trains through it. these vids that you create inspire and manifest ideas. nothing in your library is mediocre to my standards. and im pretty damn hard on myself! awesome work Mike.

Fun theme. Great choice of coaster car. Nice video editing and camera setup/moves for the intro part.
Just one thought - You could have even left the buildings under water and had the submarine ride go through them or pass by them under water |

I like this ride a lot!
Especially the intro, the way it tells the story to go along with the ride. And the pipeline coaster really goes along with the 'escape pod' theme. That's also a pretty nice screenshot of the car going under the path there. |

When recording your movies mikey how do you get rid of the HUD on the top and left side of the screen? Do you crop your moives? What moive editing tools do you use? I'm currently about to start trying to film my own video and these are afew problems i've run into.

As for the menu bars...I do not crop them out. All of my video footage in the last two videos have been taken in either coaster cam mode or using the Attract Sequence Editor (unsupported, incomplete hidden feature that the Prima guide discusses). The latter is what allows for the smooth, sweeping camera sequences WITHOUT the menus showing. Have fun, and good luck! ![]()

Wish you could go into more depth about that, but i'll just have to pick up the prima guide i suppose. The only thing I see is that you need to not touch the game for 15 minutes?

Cropping and panning alone is worth it. But you will find yourself using Movie Maker for 2 features Sony's MS doesn't support. Slo-motion (1/2 time) or double time. Uleads product had both I think (cropping and slo-mo) but cropping was more difficult and crashed alot doing it LOL. I haven't tried Adobe's Premier Pro tho. |
