All of this new info.

All of these new pictures.

And I can't help but think....dammit, I'm gonna have to shell out another $3,000 for a new rig to play this game.

And keep in mind, these are NOT "the pics", and are NOT "the CGW article". There's more to come, who knows when.

Ok are we all that cheap? Can't someone just go the magazine store or whatever and pick it up for like 5 bucks?

I would but I don't think CGW comes to Canada. :\

Conquest sounds like Assault on steroids with a shot or Onslaught thrown in. Even if "classic" assault isn't in the next game, I can't see anyone but the most obstinate purists complaining. After all, assault is in 2k4, and the community doesn't seem to give a rat's ass. So I say altering the formula certainly can't hurt. And I have to agree that innovation is the key to future success in UT. Listening to the conservative "pro" players is a recipe for disaster. Let those who can't handle change stay behind to guard the old country. there are new places to explore ahead!

I'm gonna pick up a copy of the magazine on my way to school tomorrow (as long as the convenience story at the subway station has it.) Does anyone know if the mag is fairly well-known / available? I've never been into gaming mags much. If I pick it up, expect scans from me very shortly after.

edit: Just read:

Epic should stop making so many updates to the PC line and let the competitive community stay at it for a while...I mean look at Q3.

Those aren't the Epic game. Those pics are from a Korean Unreal Engine 3.0 licensee game. Here's the story:

Competitively speaking, it's a much better 1v1 game. TDM I don't know, UT TDM is pretty amazing. Keep in mind I'm a UT player, not Quake player

They skipped UT2k5, I think that's long enough.

You do realize that the translocator does exactly this right?

Does anyone know if it says anything about how many players each game will allow? I was very dissapointed that ut2004 only allowed 32, so this conquest thing gives me hope that that number has been increased.

Except it leads to hopeless spam. Actually, if teams had strategy, they wouldn't need an xloc or any means to catch up, because they'd have a solid midfield defense.

But no matter. Anybody with scans?

Using a translocator is not the same as running faster/slower.

The Translocator IS Unreal as much as the Shock-Combo and dodge.
Its untouchable. Move on.

The tribes community just learned this. I'd like to think the UT community would have learned this with UT2k3.

The future of this brand has to resonate with gamers, not the existing UT diehards who prolly will stick with UT no matter what Epic gives them anyways.

IMO, ut2k3 itself was a mistake. Instead of porting UC to PC (then doing a sequel), id have rather have seen Unreal2xmp/Onslaught done well from the start. The idea of a new UT annual series sounded great back then and back then i also thought the whole sporty, competitive gameplay could sell well.

It doesnt sell, folks. The only "pro" gamers are MMO gold farmers in korea.

So, while i cannot complain about CTF/DM being in the next UT game... i sure as hell hope epic puts their energy into the new warfare stuff instead of working on 30 CTF/DM maps... which nobody plays or really, truly cares about (outside the fanatics).

Give us massive scale combat to take away from the Battlefields and Planetsides.

Let's show them that Unreal is the coolest universe with the best vehicles, anims and "warfare" gameplay. In fact, i personally hope the gameplay steps AWAY from translocator madness and 100 frags a minute into a more tempered, high-risk tactical dynamic where every inch counts, every bullet counts and gamers dont get too frustrated by peter pan physics and splash damage spam.

Then again... it can be modded

Me personally, I love FaceClassic. It's my favorite map other than AS-HighSpeed. IMO, If you play FC without a translocator, the whole gameplay for that map is messed up. That's why I don't play on servers without Translocators because not all maps are good without them.
