We're running some server performance tests, and we'd like to fill up a 32 player onslaught server at 24.199.192.45:7777

Not really filling up. I guess thats because most people that live in the US are still at work/school.

Also, the people that WERE in there we're kinda complaining about lag spikes every 10 seconds or so. But thats not really patch related i guess.

I got the ping spikes too. I averaged 112 but it would shoot up every once in a while and it was like packet loss. There were 3 on the server. I'll try back later.

May I suggest setting it to have 4 bots untill players join? When I was just there, there was only me & 1 bot, and he was on my team, lol.

That might help to get it populated faster.

Hopefully to finalize the next patch. If it fixes CPU spikes for large servers, that would be a plus!

Do we have any specs on the system? Opterons I hope, cause we'll be filling it with t32's.

Edit: Small suggestion. I saw that only ONS-Dawn is in the maplist. Not that we dont like the map, but there are far more better ones that are appealing to others to help fill the server. The same map over and over again will get the server depleted quickly. A few rocksolid suggestions:

ONS-Ahebban
ONS-Tropic-32P
ONS-Maelstrom
ONS-VolcanoHigh

Plus there is a umpfed up version of Torlan. But we havent released it officially yet.

To show the server loading problem I would recommend the maps:

ONS-Grit-Nights
ONS-DesertedSands-f2a-32p (available from Titan server) - or even one of the earlier versions with spiders and pickups....

These both have very good gameplay for 32 players, but have the advantage of seriously stressing the server.

ONS-Crossfire is another good one which will show the problems - though for 32 players would need a non-standard link setup to keep the players on the server.

I was until 2 days ago. Only dropped it to 9500 for some testing...

where exactly is this server located so we might know whether or not our high pings are due to distance or just a crappy server

Note that I said "few". Most of us don't have the power/bandwidth of a sponsor ISP behind us.

so were many people from ONScentral.com if the server werent down we would have joined... but now since this thread isnt stickied i dont think they are doing any more testing

well it was up for what for 2 days? i never once saw it with more than like 4 people. I highly doubt that is enough people to stress test a server

Maybe if 4 people brought it down, they know it DEFINITLY won't last with 32 people on it?
