DSL Woes and the UT2K4 Demo
Hi everyone, there seems to be a routing problem in Chicago that is causing problems for people using DSL on several networks (Verizon, Covad, some others). This is something 100% out of our control, and it's stopping you from reaching the master server.
Our provider is work hard with the network in question to get it resolved. Sorry about this.

I'm 30-miles west of Chicago with SBC DSL. No problems yet.

I was wondering why it kept saying the master server could not be contacted... O_o
I had to tell me friend to give me the IP of the servers so I could connect manually.

I don't want to sound like a smartass, but ....
Your browser protocol seems to have redundancy built in. Good thinking. However, you have both masterservers at the same location. That is not the smartest network design. You should consider placing your 2nd masterserver (or a 3rd masterserver) on a different site, with different ISPs. |

SBC phone and data were down for about 4-hours yesterday afternoon and evening. That may have been part of the reason there were system-wide problems.

does this also affect people in Europe? Coz I (in Belgium that is) am unable to connect to the master server and I think I'm on a dsl or cable here.

you can normally open servers using the console command:
open ip: port (without space, its jus that : p =  )

idd, we could use some ipnr's and ports...
problem is I cant find the console, I really hate that, so instead I pressed "y" and deleted the "say" and then filled in ip and port. that server is closed now so... give us some ipnr's and ports

Telus DSL in western canada here and no dice to the master server either.
doh! I had a hankerin to play some morning Onslaught but guess that'll have to wait =) (Oh and btw it's either tab to get the "mini console" or the `/~ key for the full console) |

Im living in North-Western Illinios, and as of this morning I can reach the master server (it worked yesterday). I have AT&T cable.
*EDIT* I guess I spoke too soon. Im now able to connect to the master server again. Wierd. |
