Who Saw the New Series "V"

The rebirth of the 80s cult phenomenon, "V" was aired in a 1 hour series premiere on ABC last night.

Who saw it and what did you think of it? Did you have a chance to see the 80's show? Some serious moments going already for the first episode. I wasn't going to even think the character played by Morris Chestnut was going to be a "V"isitor. Though if they keep having meetings and people have to be checked surgically to see who is an alien or not, some people are going to end up with scar tissue on their bodies.

So discuss what you thought about the pilot episode. The quality of the show is pretty much a high level.

I tried, but it is just not the same without Robert Englund, Michael Ironside, and even the guy who played the "Beastmaster".

Just goes to show that they are still running out of the ideas over in Hollywood.

That is Marc Singer.

Though things change. Who would have thought Nicole Kidman would have tried to play in the role of Samantha Stevens in Bewitched (who was played by Elizabeth Montgomery)? Times change.

Though seems like "V" made a big splash in the ratings...

Big Ratings for V
Millions tuned in to see the aliens arrive.
by Eric Goldman

November 4, 2009 - We don't do daily ratings reports at IGN TV, but once in awhile a big ratings story occurs that we want to make note of it. Such is the case with the premiere of ABC's V, which debuted to excellent numbers last night – much better than most were predicting.

13.9 million Viewers tuned into the premiere episode, and V had a 5.0 preliminary rating among adults, says the Hollywood Reporter's James Hibberd. A very impressive feat is that V's debut was the biggest one for any new scripted series this fall – and the highest rated 8:00pm drama debut on ABC since Lost.

Typically most shows do lose some viewers after a premiere episode – but V at least has debuted high enough to give the series a lot of room to still be a success, even if the numbers are somewhat down next week. This is very positive news, as the show is only airing four episodes this November before a hiatus – returning with new installments early next year. Some wondered if ABC would even produce more episodes beyond the four already shot if the numbers weren't there, but for now, V is off to a great start.

Seems a lot of people were anticipating what this show could bring.

Okay. I thought it was ridiculous. Aliens arrive on Earth. Alien technology effs up all electronics within its vicinity. An airplane crashes in the middle of New York City. Alien chick talks to a street full of New Yorkers. When the alien chick is done, the street erupts into applause, completely forgetting about the dead man and burning wreckage right behind them.

I'll watch another episode or two to see if it gets better, but I was very underwhelmed.
