Will corpses remain on the ground after they are killed?

Was curious, and didn't find this info in the uber-faq. Its a nice graphical touch, IMHO, but not really necessary. Anybody know?

They appeared to remain on the ground in the PC Gamer video, IIRC, but they might fade away after a while, or when the player leaves the area.

Q. When an NPC dies, do we have to carry his/her body back to the temple?
A. (T.C. 3/14) You never have to carry the body of a PC or an NPC back to the temple. You can target their portrait to raise them, and then they appear next to you with all of their stuff.

I think he's asking if the piles of monsters that the party slays will remain on the ground.

slain enemies' bodies stay on the ground and decay over time once you leave the area. items carried drop to the ground.

Always keep an eye on the first person who asks about the corpses...

"Hey, uh, buddy, are you, uh, you know, gonna be needing that corpse? If not, I'll, uh, take it off your hands for ya, real cheap too! What do ya say, buddy?"

And then how long do the items stay on the ground before the scavengers come to claim them?

"loot bag"!?! You expect to get treasure for slaying your enemies? What are you, some sort of power gamer?

NPC's do not pick items up off the ground. it was ruled 'not fun' - play arcanum (again) and relive the frustration

Yeah, that would suck if someone drops a cool sword & while you fumble with your mouse, cursing your Doritos-stained fingers, the computer controlled NPC snatches it up....
