Ride time at SFMM

Ok all I will be making a trip to Magic Mountain of Sunday July 6th. Anyone wanting to have a meet-n=ride with a real trouble maker show find me in the season pass line just before the park opens. I will have on blcak shorts and a green 2002 old navy flag tee, and my Oakleys of course. I will also have my son with me.

Still up in the air on that one. Would love to but need to see when my job ends and wait to see how much I get back on the extra tax cuts. If I do get out there will they have TTD pluged in?

Sorry, Going this SAT!!.... I went last year, X wasn't open and Deja Vu had a 3 hour line. I think im going to head to Deja Vu first since it has only 1 train.

Well X is running I would say hit that first for 2 reasons. The first is it is close to the entrance and quick to get to. Second if you thought Deja Vu had a long line try riding X after 12. I have waited for over 3 hours a couple of times. I highly suggest X first. I think that they have sped up the process for Vu and get can get the line moving.

And what you can't go again a week later? lol

haha na. Usually Magic Mountain once a year for me. I've been on most rides so many times and I really need new or different rides to keep me suprised. I dont know if you know what I mean but riding viper a million times gets old. Plus, one full day at magic Mountain can KILL your feet. I get so tired after one day, that place is huge and they need to open that damn monorail up.

I'll second you on the monorail. On easter I wanted nothing more than a free lift from Riddler's to the entrance my feet were killing me. I walked the park at least 5 times that day. Oh the hills. Yeah I like new rides also but I just lack the funds to do the travel needed to ride them. So I go to MM about once a month it only costs me a tank of gas and some diner then.

On a Saturday probably, but I don't ever because it is $16 and you only get 4 rides for that. Maybe if X were one of the rides I could see doing it but it will never be a fast lane ride. It is probably most usefull for RR, and maybe Scream on a Saturday.

My SFMM Xperience

I had a very long and fun time at Six Flags Magic Mountain. I must say xman, I've never seen it more crowded there ever then it was yesterday. I know it was a SAT and wouldbe crowded, but its never been that bad.

I am pretty disappointed the way Six Flags runs there park. For one, the parking lot is huge! It was filled all the way to the end, where Scream is. They had about 3 maybe 4 trams running. That was insane for all the people parking and these trams are 3 cars long. It was probably about 95 degrees and not like were going to be walking enough today (also consider they have the nice monorail thats not working).

The condition of the trash in the park is horrible. I don't know if I havent noticed it before but it is VERY dirty. They must not have enough custodians because trash is in the walkways, in the lines and the bath rooms are horrible! haha, almost very obvious that Magic Mountain is located so close to LA (no offense).

Employee's don't pay attention very much, especially people operating the rides. Im not expecting a "Disney" experience, but they dont look like there paying too much attention to there jobs. I saw a little girl clearly not tall enough to ride Batman, and get on the ride with no problem. Its insane how saftey is not a concern.

Ride times are supposed to be long but they are way longer then they should be for some rides. Batman took 1 hour and 35 min. You may say, "o thats not bad", but they had only 1 freakin train on track. They could of cut the time in half had they had the other one running. It was such a slow moving line. Also, I took the time to ride Superman today. It was 1 hour 20 min long but I don't know what the deal is with them also running only one side. Maybe they should consider better maintence so they can have the 2nd train for Batman or the 2nd side for Superman.

The sign at the front gate said Deja Vu was closed so I did not take the time to visit that part of the park but I really like how fast the line for Scream moves. That is how all the other rides should be I think. They had all 3 trains running and the whole que was full, only took 40 min. I must say, this ride was so much fun. It is one of my favorite rides, just laughing the whole time, a lot of excitment. AND THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE DAY...............

The sign in front of X said that you must be in line before 9 to ride. We made it there 8 45. It took 2 hours and 45 min. IT WAS WORTH IT. I don't know how many of you on this board have been on it but this ride takes the cake. I have never been on a more thrilling or exciting ride EVER. I strongly suggestion everyone to ride X sometime in there lifetime. It was honestly a great experience in my life, and it was worth every minute of the wait. This ride truly makes Magic Mountain the Xtreme park and with the addition of Scream, I dont see how any park can have better rides or such a good variety. X, BEST RIDE ON THE PLANET!

well sorry the park was not in good shape, but it was Saturday. It does really bug me when they don't run the full number of trains on the tracks. B:tR for example should be running 3 trains. Viper 3 trains; Goliath 3 trains; Riddlers can run 3 trains but usually only runs 2. X runs 2 trains. Good news about the park is the Goldrusher is open again(haha) and running 2 trains now. Really if you must go on a weekend Sunday is a much better day, and the lines get much much shorter after 5pm.

I've never been to SFMM, and am going next Friday and Saturday..any insider tips? Other than the coasters (that's the real reason I'm going), are there flat rides or other rides not to miss? What's good to eat? Any Parking secrets? Are there any local restraunts in the area that might also be good? MAN! I Can't WAIT to ride me some X!!!!

Well for parking I would say get there early the parking gates open at 9 and there could be a long line especially over the holiday. As for the park itself on those days I would expect long long long lines and a lot od heat. It can get cookin in the park. Of course there are some water rides but those lines can get real long. To cool off I would go to Tidal Wave and wait for a boat to come down and splash you, much quicker way to cool off. Of course then you are SOAKED. They have some flat rides but they don't run them all. They have foregone the flat rides for the coasters. My best advise is to get there early and make a be line for X. To get there go in the gate and straight to the lockers, turn right. At the carrasul turn left go up the hill until you see stairs on your right. Take the stairs and keep going right. Now head over the bridge and run as fast as you can to X. Eating: the park does have some fair food. If you don't care about money by all means eat at the Mooseburger lodge, it is a sit down eatery. Otherwise you can leave the park and head south on 5 for a couple of miles(or take The Old Road<-yes that is the name of it). Get off the 5 at Lyons Ave. there are plenty of fast food joints right there. Carls Jr., in-n-out, McDonalds...even an outback. Othere than that have a good time. Oh if you are willing to part with $16 you can get a fast lane pass, you get 4 rides for it. This is only good on a few rides, not X, but can save you a lot of time on a busy holiday weekend like this weekend.

I didn't get the Fast lane thing but i suggest this weekend you should. You can do Goliath, Riddler's Revenage, Scream and pick another ride. That can save you 3 maybe 4 hours. Dont forget to ride Free Fall. Hehe, it looks so small but it gets my stomache more than any other ride in the park.

Thanks a lot guys! I'll definitly have to try the Mooseburger...we're getting there at noon-ish from our flight....so, if the Park is Slammed on Friday the 11th in the evening, we may skip a day and wait until Sunday...
Now I'm trying to research more stuff to do in LA....
I dunno about a fastpass....but Might just have to try it!!!!

(I love those free-fall rides as well!)
(and who can go wrong at an Outback!)
mmmmmm Chez Froys

Ok so it is not this wekend you are going. Then if you can get to the park ASAP from the airport you may have a good shot at getting some rides. But my best advise it to relax Friday and hit the park on Sunday instead. The lines are shorter and after about 5pm the park really starts to empty so you can catch more rides in the evening. Oh yeah on X be sure to get loaded from the side closer to the parking lot. NOT the Viper side, it is a bit rougher. Also try to ride it during the day and then again at night. the view at night is the best.

Question: For Magic Mountain's Fast Lane, are they still restricting Fast Lane riders to the middle two cars of the train?

Personally, I want to ride in either the front or the back, not in the middle. If you don't want to be stuck in the middle, you'll want to check on that. Last time I was at MM (December 2002), they were reserving the middle seats for the Fast Lane, hence, for me, it wouldn't be worth it.

I've been to two parks with the Q-Bot, being Six Flags Over Georgia and Six Flags Over Texas. With the Q-Bot, you can select any seat. (On the down side, and I'm sure it isn't a coincidence, SFOG and SFOT are the two least efficient parks I've ever visited.)

When I used one that was given to me I was sent to a spot where I could jump in which ever section for seating I wanted. I still had to wait but only about 10 minutes instead of 45-60 minutes, that was for Riddler's I think it depends on the Ops. I did see one let people right onto the ride in the second row, I now that they will not load you into the firs row right away.

Well here is the trip report. I got to the park at about 8:30. Had to wait for the parking lot to open at 9. Was abotu the 10th car in. I got a really good parking spot and headed for my place in the season pass line. I was meeting a few peeps form another site I visit. They are a pretty good bunch, though I fear that one of them will die falling out of a coaster. Any way, we hit about 6 rides in 1 1/2 hours. We got the first ride on Goliath as X was not open in the morning. I was there when one of the guys hit his 200th ride on Scream, he also probably has more rides on X than anybdy else. His single day X record is 13 all in less than 3 hours. We got 3 Screams, 2 Goliaths, and a coupel of colosus' in for the day. The only thing we did not get that was running was Revolution.
